A differential assembly includes an electrically operated input device and a first planetary assembly in driving engagement with the input device. The first planetary assembly is drivingly connected to a first output assembly. A second planetary assembly is in driving engagement with the first planetary assembly and the second planetary assembly is drivingly connected to a second output assembly. The first planetary assembly co-acts with the second planetary assembly to provide substantially the same torque to the first and second output assemblies and the first and second planetary assemblies include axes of rotation substantially aligned with an axis of rotation of the input device.

Method and apparatus for an electric drive differential system

A rotary machine may include an inner component and a first group of cylindrical rollers disposed around the inner component. Each of the cylindrical rollers may have end-faces. The rotary machine may further include an outer component with a first cylindrical inner surface disposed against the cylindrical rollers. Additionally, the rotary machine may include a first bearing cage associated with the first group of cylindrical rollers. At least a portion of the first bearing cage may be disposed inside the first cylindrical inner surface, and the first bearing cage and the first cylindrical inner surface may be associated with one another in such a manner to maintain the first bearing cage substantially concentric to the first cylindrical inner surface. The rotary machine may also include a first axial stop configured to limit axial movement between the outer component and one or more of the cylindrical rollers. Additionally, the rotary machine may include a second axial stop configured to limit axial movement between one or more of the cylindrical rollers and a component of the rotary machine other than the outer component.

A power train assembly is driveably engaged with an input source and includes a transmission module having a casing and a drive member. The transmission module is driveably connected to the input source and a creeper module is driveably engaged with the drive member of the transmission module. The creeper module is detachably mounted to the casing of the transmission module. An output assembly is in driving engagement with the creeper module and a control interface is configured to selectively engage the creeper module to transform the speed of the drive member to a reduced speed of the output member.

A final drive assembly for transmitting torque between an input and an output includes a compound gear assembly. The compound gear assembly includes at least three planetary gear trains and is in driving engagement with the input. Each planetary gear train of the at least three planetary gear trains is adapted to coactively and drivingly engage the output, wherein torque generated by the input is distributed to the output by each of the planetary gear trains.

A transmission assembly includes a stationary housing and a first section having a coupling member. The first section further includes a first planetary gear assembly, a second planetary gear assembly, and a third planetary gear assembly operatively disposed in the stationary housing. Each of the planetary gear assemblies includes a ring gear, at least one planet carrier having at least one planet gear, and a sun gear. The sun gears of at least the first and second planetary gear assemblies are operatively connected to the coupling member. The first section also includes an input member operatively connected to the third planetary gear assembly to drive the first section. A first stationary clutch operatively connects the coupling member to the stationary housing. A second stationary clutch operatively connects at least one of the planet carrier and the ring gear of the first planetary gear assembly to the stationary housing.

Transmission assembly

A planetary transmission is disclosed including a front section having a first, a second, and a third planetary gear set each having a sun gear, a planet carrier and a ring gear. An input shaft is connected to at least two of the sun gears and the carrier of the third planetary gear set serves as the output. The front section of the transmission is operatively connected to a rear section for multi-speed use particularly adaptable to trucks or other machines.

Planetary transmission with direct drive through the front triple

A transmission warm-up control strategy is provided for an automatic transmission used in a machine that is started or operated in cold conditions. When the operating value of the oil in the transmission is below a predetermined level, as sensed by a temperature sensor or a viscosity sensor, a controller turns on an indicator lamp, de-energizes all of the solenoid to the solenoid actuated valves, and holds for a predetermined period of time. The respective solenoids are incrementally energized and held for a second period of time while continuously monitoring the operating condition of the oil in the transmission. Once the operating condition of the oil is above the predetermined operating value, the indicator lamp is turned off and the system is returned to normal operating conditions. If the shift lever is moved from the park position during warm-up, all solenoids are de-energized and the indicator lamp is set to flash. The condition is held for the first predetermined period of time then the solenoids for the neutral clutches are energized and if the shift lever is not in the neutral position, the controller require that the shift lever be returned to the neutral or park position.
