A spout assembly is provided. The spout assembly includes a spout and a spout base. The spout base has a cross-sectional area that is smaller than a spout sized to enclose an electrical switching apparatus electrical coupling. That is, the spout base includes a CT support surface with a cross-sectional area that is smaller than the spout cross-sectional area. Current transformers are disposed upon the spout base CT support surface.

A self-pressurized arc diverter includes a vessel configured to enclose a fusible member disposed in a conductor and a pressure-activated arc diverter. The pressure-activated arc diverter is configured to provide access to a preferred arc path when actuated by pressure in the vessel caused by an arc that is created when the fusible member opens.

An electrical enclosure includes a housing having a first end, an opposite second end, and a plurality of sides disposed therebetween to define an internal volume; an electrical busway having a number of electrical bus members, wherein at least one of the number of electrical bus members has a first bus member, a second bus member and a number of fusible links electrically connected between the first bus member and the second bus member, wherein the at least one of the number of electrical bus members is structured to electrically conduct a rated current, wherein the number of fusible links are structured to electrically conduct the rated current, and wherein the number of fusible links are structured to vaporize responsive to a current which is substantially greater than the rated current.

Method and apparatus to move an arcing fault to a different location in an electrical enclosure

A chimney assembly is provided for an electrical switching apparatus, such as a circuit breaker including a housing and a number of poles. The chimney assembly includes a frame, an intake, a duct and an exhaust. A first side of the frame is coupled to the circuit breaker housing proximate the poles of the circuit breaker, and the intake and exhaust are respectively disposed at first and second ends of the frame. A first portion of the duct is coupled to the circuit breaker housing above the poles, and a second portion is coupled to the first side of the frame. The chimney assembly draws a volume of air through the intake into the circuit breaker housing, circulates the volume of air through the poles of the circuit breaker, and discharges the volume of air out of the circuit breaker housing through the duct and the exhaust.

On embodiment of the disclosed invention provides an electrical equipment cubicle having at least one removable side panel. The removable side panel is not fixed to the electrical equipment cubicle. Instead, the removable side panel is removably coupled to the frame assembly by an easily separable coupling device such as, but not limited to, a tab-and-receptacle device and/or easily accessible fasteners.

A maintenance-free electrical bus assembly is provided for a switchgear cabinet. The maintenance-free electrical bus assembly is coupled to a switchgear device in the cabinet, and includes electrical bus members, at least one bus joint comprising an electrical connection of two or more electrical bus members, and a fastener assembly fastening the bus joint and maintaining the electrical connection between the electrical bus members thereof. The fastener assembly includes at least one first fastening element having a plurality of first threads, and at least one second fastening element having a plurality of second threads. The second threads threadably engage the first threads of a corresponding first fastening element, in order to perpetually secure the first threads and the corresponding first fastening element, and to resist undesirable loosening of the bus joint once the fastener assembly has been fastened. Thus, inaccessible bus joints within the cabinet do not need to be inspected.

A grounding device for a roll-out electrical component is provided. The grounding device includes an actuation assembly, a static grounding contact assembly, and a biasing device. The actuation assembly structured to be engaged/disengaged by a roll-out electrical component. The static grounding contact assembly has at least one static grounding contact member that is structured to move between a first position, wherein the static grounding contact member does not contact a roll-out electrical component at least one contact, and a second position, wherein the static grounding contact member contacts, and is in electrical communication with, the roll-out electrical component at least one contact. The static grounding contact assembly is coupled to the actuation assembly and responsive to the position of the roll-out electrical component. The biasing device is structured to bias the actuation assembly and the static grounding contact member to their respective first positions.

An electrical enclosure includes a housing having a front, a back, a plurality of sides, a plurality of sections disposed between the sides, at least one electrical apparatus, and a plurality of electrical bus members electrically connected to the electrical apparatus. The electrical apparatus is disposed within a first one of the sections of the housing, and a substantial portion of the electrical bus members are collectively disposed within a second one of the sections of the housing. At least the second one of the sections and the substantial portion of the electrical bus members collectively disposed therein are accessible from the front of the housing, regardless of whether the electrical apparatus is within or removed from the first one of the sections of the housing. An electrical bus assembly is also disclosed.

An electrical bus member mounting system is provided for an electrical enclosure including a housing having a front, a back and a plurality of sides, a plurality of sections disposed between the sides, at least one electrical apparatus disposed within a first one of the sections, and an electrical bus assembly electrically connected to the electrical apparatus. The electrical bus member mounting system includes a mounting assembly having a first portion and a second portion. A plurality of electrical bus members are coupled to the first portion and the second portion is coupled at or about at least one of the sides of the housing within a second one of the sections thereof. Accordingly, the electrical bus member mounting system consolidates a substantial portion of the electrical bus assembly at a single location within the second one of the sections of the housing, in order to facilitate access thereto.

A stop device for an electrical device cell includes a generally flat, rectangular stop member and a generally flat, elongated permissive member. The stop member is, preferably, part of a stop member assembly that includes a biasing device. The cell includes a pair of rails upon which a drawout electrical device is movably disposed. The stop member is disposed adjacent to at least one housing assembly rail and is structured to move between a first, extended position, wherein the stop member engages the drawout electrical device and prevents the drawout electrical device from moving from the first, installed position to the second, drawn out position, and a second, withdrawn position, wherein the stop member does not engage the drawout electrical device and the drawout electrical device may move from the first, installed position to the second, drawn out position.

An arc-resistant switchgear cabinet includes a frame disposed on a floor and a door movably mounted on the frame. The frame includes a floor plate that is disposed against the floor and that includes a plurality of pins extending vertically upward from the floor plate. The door includes a plurality of corresponding receptacles into which the pins are received when the door is in a secured position. The pins in the receptacles resist the lower end of the door from moving in a horizontal direction away from the frame in the event of an arcing fault. A pair of bolts additionally fasten the lower comers of the door to the frame. The switchgear cabinet further includes interlocking tabs formed on the frame and on the door that overlap one another when the door is in the secured position.

An electrical system and a sensor for on-line monitoring of the state of high-voltage insulation in the electrical system. In this arrangement, the signals associated with partial discharge activity are monitored and transmitted from the sensor to monitoring instrumentation. The sensor is interconnected with the potential stress shield of existing bushings. The capacitance in the bushing between the main conductor and the stress shield conducts partial discharge current which is available for being sensed.

An exhaust chamber for an arc resistant cabinet directs high temperature, expanding gases away from locations where personnel are likely to be present. The exhaust chamber may have an open top, directing gases outward through the center of the exhaust chamber's top. Alternatively, the exhaust chamber may be completely enclosed, directing expanding gases through a duct.

A panel, preferably a ceiling panel, for an arc resistant cabinet defines at least one flap dimensioned and configured to bend outward in response to excessive pressure within the cabinet. The flap is bent into a position wherein it will direct high temperature, expanding gases exiting the cabinet away from areas where personnel are likely to be located. The panel also includes a frame below the flap, thereby permitting the entire panel, including the flap, to support the weight of people working on top of the cabinet.
