An agricultural machine comprises an electronic control device, an actuator, which is actuated under external power, for adjustment of at least one working parameter of the agricultural machine, and a sensor, which is connected to the control device, for detection of the vertical position of the agricultural machine. It is proposed that the control device can be operated so as to derive from the signals of the sensor which topographical zone of a number of topographical zones of a field the agricultural machine is situated in each case, and to activate the actuator as a function of the respective topographical zone.

Agricultural machine having a system for automatic setting of a working parameter, and associated method

A first magnet is secured to the movable member at a first axial position and is associated with a first magnetic field. A secondary magnet is secured to the movable member at a secondary axial position and is associated with a secondary magnetic field. A sensor assembly comprises magnetic sensors arranged in an array (e.g., on a fixed member). A first magnetic sensor is spaced apart from the sensor assembly such that the first magnetic sensor detects the first magnetic field of the first magnet in a first state and an absence of or change in the first magnetic field in a second state. A data processor is arranged for determining an axial position of the moveable member based on at least one of the magnetic fields sensed by the sensor assembly.

System for determining the position of a movable member

A shaft comprises a hardened outer metallic layer having a first hardness level with a generally uniform radial depth. A first strip extends in a generally longitudinal direction in the outer metallic layer. The first strip has a second hardness level different from the first hardness level. A second strip in the outer metallic layer has the second hardness level. The first strip and the second strip are spaced apart from each other over at least a longitudinal region. A sensor senses an angular difference between a first magnetic field associated with the first strip and a second magnetic field associated with the second strip. A data processor references an established relationship between a position of the shaft and the angular difference between magnetic fields associated with the first strip and the second strip to detect a position of the shaft with respect to a reference point.
