An ultra-wide band (UWB) waveform generator and encoder for use in a UWB digital communication system. The UWB waveform is made up of a sequence of shaped wavelets. The waveform generator produces multi-amplitude, multi-phase wavelets that are time-constrained, zero mean, and can be orthogonal in phase, yet still have a &#x2212;10 dB power spectral bandwidth that is larger than the frequency of the peak of the power spectrum In one embodiment, the wavelets are bi-phase wavelets. The encoder multiplies each data bit by an n-bit identifying code, (e.g., a user code), resulting in a group of wavelets corresponding to each data bit. The identifying codeword is passed onto the UWB waveform generator for generation of a UWB waveform that can be transmitted via an antenna.

System and method for generating ultra wideband pulses

Host translation of guest keyboard events is blocked to effectively isolate a guest keyboard from a host keyboard during applications sharing. A guest keyboard driver translates guest keyboard events which are transmitted to a host for use in shared applications. A patch instruction is written over a host keyboard event module which causes a jump to a patch subroutine when an attempt is made to deposit host keyboard events in the storage queue. Host keyboard events are marked by the patch subroutine and the marked host events are deposited in a shadow queue which is disposed in parallel with the host storage queue. Translated guest events also are deposited in the shadow queue. Raw host and guest keyboard events are stored in the host storage queue. When a shared application requires data from the host storage queue, a call for a translation of the outgoing data is made. In the event that the data is guest data, a second patch instruction on the module supervising the translation call causes a jump to a second patch subroutine, which bypasses the translation call and causes entry of the pretranslated guest event from the shadow queue into the shared application. If the outgoing event is a host event, the second patch instruction jumps to the second patch subroutine, which writes the translation instructions over the second patch so that the translating module can execute the translation. The translated host event then can be entered into the shared application. The second patch instruction is rewritten over the module supervising the translation.

Method and apparatus for using translated and raw guest keyboard input

Host multiple-byte character generator processing of guest keyboard events is blocked during applications sharing. A guest keyboard driver generates guest keyboard events which may be processed by any guest multiple-byte character generator. The guest events are transmitted to a host for use in shared applications. A patch instruction is written over a host storage queue which causes a jump to a patch subroutine when an attempt is made to deposit host keyboard events in the storage queue. Host keyboard events are marked by the patch subroutine and the marked host events are deposited in a shadow queue which is disposed in parallel with the host storage queue. Guest events also are deposited in the shadow queue. Untranslated host and single-byte character guest events, are stored in the host storage queue. When a shared application requires data from the host storage queue, the outgoing event is examined for origin, such as by examining the shadow queue. If the event is a guest event, a call is made to a host-executed applications sharing program, which in turn calls the host-multiple character generator. The call to the host multiple-byte character generator bypasses execution of the generator to preventing it from processing guest events prior to their entry into the shared application. In an embodiment of the invention, if the guest transmits a multiple-byte character to the host, the host-executed applications sharing system calls a host operating system module responsible for entering the guest multiple-byte character into a shared application. The guest multiple-byte character is entered into the shared application without a call being made to the host multiple-byte character generator.

International multiple-byte character generator support in application

The claimed invention is a driver circuit for transmitting data via an output node thereof to a transmission line. The driver circuit includes a first driving device coupled to the output node and a second driving device also coupled to the output node. The driver circuit also includes a clamping device coupled to the output node. The clamping device clamps the output node at a first predetermined voltage level. A termination device is coupled to the output node of the driver circuit. The termination device includes a triggering device and a termination path. The triggering device is coupled to the termination path such that the triggering device causes a current flow via the termination path when a voltage at the output node exceeds a second predetermined voltage level. The second predetermined voltage level is higher than the first predetermined voltage level.

Output swing clamp for USB differential buffer

A driver circuit for transmitting data via an output node thereof to a transmission line includes a first driving device coupled to the output node and a second driving device coupled to the same output node. The driver circuit further includes a slew rate controller coupled to the first and second driving devices. The slew rate controller includes a first reference device coupled to the first driving device. The first reference device generates a first current. The slew rate controller also includes a second reference device coupled to the second driving device. The second reference device generates a second current. The slew rate controller further includes a summing device, coupled to the first and second reference devices. The summing node is also coupled to the output node, via an integrating device, to the output node. The summing device generates at the output node a slew rate proportional to the first current when the first driving device is substantially conducting. The summing device also generates at the output node a slew rate proportional to the second current when the second driving device is substantially conducting.

A first connector (12, FIG. 2) is constructed so when it is unmated from a second connector (14), front contact devices (32) of the first connector are switched from connections to conductors (16) leading to circuit component (70) to connection to a ground plane (110). The first connector comprises a front insert assembly (22) that includes a plurality of front contact devices (32), and a rear insert assembly (50) that includes a plurality of rear contacts (62). When the second connector fully mates with the first one (FIG. 3), the second connector pushes the front insert assembly to a rearward position (22B), against the force of a spring (40), to cause the front contact devices to mate with the rear contacts. When the second connector unmates from the first one, the spring moves the front insert assembly to the forward position. During forward movement, the front contact devices engage the ground plane (110), to thereby ground the front contact devices when they are not mated to the rear contacts.

Switching connector apparatus

An electrical connector containing removable contacts upon which there are mounted electrical circuit components. One or more such components may be mounted on the side of each contact body. A spring provides electrical connection between the components and the grounding plate in the connector containing openings into which the contacts are removably mounted.
