The invention concerns a syringe for administering medication to an animal. The syringe includes a handle that may be manually actuated to dispense medication to the animal. The syringe also includes a valve that controls the flow of medication both into and out of the syringe. A sensor device on the syringe monitors when the medication has been administered in order to inform any attached pump that the syringe may be refilled. An LED informs the user when the syringe has been filled with medication and is ready for the administration of medication to the animal.

An improved hair cutting device (10) having a housing (12) having a housing front (12A) with a housing front vertical member (12AA) and a housing front horizontal member (12AB) attached to a housing front bottom support member (12AC). The housing (12) further has a housing middle (12B) and a housing rear (12C) with a housing door (12D) removably attached thereto forming a chamber therein. The housing (12) further has a housing left member (12L) and a housing right member (12R) extending perpendicularly downwardly therefrom. The improved hair cutting device (10) further has a brush (14) with a plurality of brush bristles (14A) extending perpendicularly from a brush spindle (14B) which is rotatably mounted at opposite distal ends to the housing left member (12L) and housing right member (12R), respectively. The improved hair cutting device (10) further has a vacuum (16) which comprises a vacuum motor (16A) fastened to a vacuum fan (16B) by a rotating vacuum shaft (16C). The improved hair cutting device (10) further has a power source (18) electrically connected to a vacuum switch (16D).

Hair cutting device

A manual hair cutting implement for enabling a person to cut his or her own hair. The implement includes an elongated handle having a brush rotatably mounted thereon, and two combs and two cutting blades. The brush, combs, and blades are mounted on a working head which is pivotally adjustable with respect to the handle, so that the angle therebetween is adjustable. The brush is cylindrical, and has an axis of rotation longitudinally disposed with respect to the handle. The combs and blades are arranged to intersect the periphery of the cylindrical brush, so that hair is appropriately lifted from the head by the brush, maintained in place by the combs, and cut by the blades. The blades are located in a protected position between the handle and brush, and inside the comb, so that exposure of the blade is minimized for safety. The working head is also adjustably mounted to the handle, so that the effective length of the latter is adjustable. The implement enables right and left handed operation, is safe to use, and effectively lifts and holds hair for cutting.

A hitch lock assembly which is readily attachable to a trailer hitch assembly to provide a means for securing a hitch ball latch assembly from unauthorized removal from a hitch ball member. The hitch lock assembly includes a pair of lock pin members operable with a padlock member to provide means for securing the hitch ball latch assembly about the hitch ball member. Each lock pin member is of a high strength steel rod construction having a vertical hitch lock section mountable within aligned holes through a main hitch housing assembly and a ball contact member to insure that these elements are not movable relative to each other to an unlatched condition. The padlock member is removed from the interconnected lock pin members and the hitck lock sections are removed from the aligned holes to achieve an unlatched condition.

Lock assembly for a trailer hitch

A conversion apparatus suitable for mounting a truck bed onto the chassis of a tractor equipped with a fifth wheel and primarily intended for hauling trailers. In one embodiment the conversion apparatus includes a pair of rails mounted on opposing sides of the trailer chassis in front of the fifth wheel and a frame, attached to the underside of the truck bed, which is configured to rest upon the rails, the fifth wheel and a portion of the tractor chassis behind the fifth wheel. The frame is also provided with a kingpin to engage the locking mechanism of the fifth wheel. Latching devices are provided at a forward end of the rails and a rearward end of the frame to secure the front of the frame to the rails and the rear of the frame to the rearward end of the tractor chassis, thus restricting relative motion between the truck bed and the trailer. In an alternative embodiment a dump-type truck bed may be mounted on a conventional tractor. This embodiment includes a pair of rails mounted to the tractor chassis in front of the fifth wheel, a main frame connected to the underside of the dump-type truck bed, and a sub-frame, pivotally coupled at its rearward end to the main frame, which is configured to engage rails, the fifth wheel of the tractor and a portion of the tractor chassis behind the fifth wheel.

A driver return assembly for an electro-mechanical fastener driving tool. The tool is of the type provided with a driver which is frictionally moved through a working stroke by means of an electrically driven flywheel which presses the driver against a support element, such as a counter rotating flywheel, a low inertia roller, or the like. The driver return assembly comprises at least one elastomeric cord being attached at one of its ends to the driver and at the other of its ends to an anchor within the tool. The at least one elastomeric cord, between its ends, passes about at least two pulleys. One of the pulleys is mounted on a spring supported shaft to compensate for stretch of the at least one elastomeric cord to assure that the driver is returned to its normal, retracted position after each working stroke.

A flow meter apparatus for measuring the mass flow rates of fluids passed through two essentially parallel, cantilever mounted U-shaped flow tubes where, instead of the fluid serially passing through one of the U-shaped flow tubes and then through the second U-shaped flow tube, the fluid is essentially evenly divided and half of the fluid is passed through one U-shaped flow tube and the other half of the fluid is passed through the other U-shaped flow tube. The two U-shaped flow tubes are sinusoidally driven as the tines of a tuning fork, and when a fluid is passed through the oscillating U-shaped flow tubes Coriolis forces are generated which torsionally deflect the U-shaped flow tubes. Such torsional deflections are a function of the mass flow rate of the fluid passing through the two U-shaped flow tubes.

A flow meter apparatus for measuring the mass flow rates of fluids passed through a cantilever mounted oscillating sensing tube where the capability of the meter to measure low mass flow rates is enhanced by using a sensing tube which has a low torsional spring constant about its longitudinal axis. Mounted parallel to this sensing tube, also in a cantilever fashion, is a second tube which has essentially identical moments of inertia and spring constants. Connecting the two tubes at their free ends is a lightweight rigid structure. The two tubes with the connecting structure can be sinusoidally driven so that when a fluid is passed through the sensing tube generated Coriolis forces torsionally deflect the connecting structure about an axis located midway between the tubes. Such torsional deflection is a function of the mass flow rate of the fluid passing through the sensing tube, and this mass flow rate can be measured by determining the time required for the second of the two tubes to pass through the mid-plane of oscillation after the first tube has passed through that plane.

Apparatus and method for making fluid mass flow rate measurements using a Coriolis flow meter equipped with sensors which measure acceleration, velocity, or position of each side leg of an oscillating U-shaped conduit through which the fluid is passed. The sensors are so constructed and located as to produce analog signal outputs which accurately correspond to the motion of the respective side legs of the U-shaped conduit. When fluid is flowing through the conduit, a change from coincidence in the time relationship of the sensor signals caused by the divergent oscillations of each side leg of the U-shaped conduit is measured in both directions of oscillation. The fluid mass flow rate is then determined as a function of such time separation of the signals. The separation of the two signals with respect to time is measured without reference to static structures affixed to a platform.

Method and apparatus for mass flow measurement

An impact member for driven flywheel impact devices, such as nailers and staplers, is disclosed which may be configured to tailor the normal force as a function of ram position. A basic configuration is a constant taper, which, as soon as the impact member is actuated by a flywheel, assists in maintaining driving friction on the impact member. The taper may be linear, stepped or curved, and symmetric or asymmetric about the longitudinal axis of the ram, whereby to tailor the impact member speed for different purposes.

Method and apparatus for measuring mass flow, and particularly the sum or difference in mass flow of distinct streams of flowing materials, wherein a plurality of channels are provided in one or more conduits rotating or oscillating as a common unit with additive streams or a common stream being flowed through the channels in a first direction and subtractive streams being flowed through the channels in an opposite direction, and in which the net Coriolis force imposed upon the conduit unit is measured.

Method and apparatus for measuring flow

This invention relates to an electric impact tool characterized by a pair of electric motor-driven counterrotating flywheels, at least one of which is movable relative to the other from a retracted inoperative position into an extended operative one closely adjacent the other flywheel whereby a ram is squeezed therebetween and impelled forward at high speed against a workpiece. The nosepiece of the tool frame is retractable although normally extended due to the spring bias urging it and the movable flywheel to which it is mechanically linked into disengaged position. These elements cooperate with one another and with a manually-actuated trigger such that the latter must be depressed and the nosepiece retracted in order to engage the high energy friction clutch defined by the flywheels so as to operate the ram. A flywheel speed control is provided for matching the ram impact to the workload. The nosepiece also includes an energy absorbing cushion effective to dissipate the excess energy carried by the ram at the end of its work stroke so as to prevent damage to the structure against which the nosepiece is pressed.

Electric impact tool

An impact device, useful for driving nails, staples and other fastening elements. The driving member is driven by frictional engagement with a rotating high speed flywheel. The device has a safety provision whereby it cannot be actuated until the nose of the device is pressed against a work piece. This action also produces a movement of a support means, such as a roller, towards the rotating flywheel. It should be pointed out that the tool could be designed, in the alternative, with a fixed support means and movable flywheel. Actuation of the trigger moves the driving member into engagement between the support and the rotating flywheel, and the flywheel propels the driving element in a fastener driving direction. The support means is provided with a leaf spring permitting it to yield so that the driving member can pass between the flywheel and the support means while maintaining frictional engagement between the flywheel and the driving member. Inertia of the support means aids in efficient engagement of the flywheel with the driving member. The driver is connected to an elastic member, so that when the tool is lifted from the work, the movable support means is moved away from the fixed flywheel, and the elastic member then retracts the driving member between the flywheel and the support means to a position out of contact therewith. The flywheel can be driven by any of several drive means including compressed air, internal combustion and electric drive means. The preferred embodiment is powered by a single electric motor.

Impact device

Apparatus and method for mass flow measurement utilizing a substantially 'U' shaped conduit mounted in a cantilever manner at the legs thereof, means for oscillating the conduit, and means for measuring the Coriolis force by measurement of the force moment or the angular motion of the conduit around an axis substantially symmetrical to the legs of the conduit. The force moment is measured by sensing incipient movement around the axis, and generating and measuring a nulling force. In preferred embodiments, the oscillating means are mounted on a spring arm having a natural frequency substantially equal to that of the 'U' shaped conduit, and in a particularly preferred displacement the measuring means are sensors mounted on the 'U' shaped conduit and adapted to measure, with proper direction sense, the time differential between the leading and trailing portions of the 'U' shaped conduit passing through the plane of the 'U' shaped conduit at substantially midpoint of the oscillation thereof.

Method and structure for flow measurement

A weight switching mechanism for a substitution type analytical balance is provided which permits the automatic selection and lifting of the required substitution weights from the gimbal assembly of a balance beam to allow accurate weighing of an unknown mass. A capacitive/electromagnetic feedback device is provided for sensing changes in the relative balance of the beam with respect to the applied unknown mass. The resultant current is applied to a force coil which maintains the beam in null position. A current related signal is converted to a digital input signal which is applied to a memory and control circuit and electronically displayed. A series of electromagnets, mounted below a printed circuit board and positioned to correspond with each substitution weight, is provided. The printed circuit board is arranged to lift upon release of the balance beam. The release of the beam causes the control circuit to selectively energize those magnets whose corresponding weights approximate the total weight of the unknown mass. The raising of the printed circuit board removes the selected weights from the gimbal assembly allowing a precise measurement of the remaining unbalance.
