Self-curable latex compositions contain particles of an oxazoline-modified polymer and particles of a coreactive polymer. These latex compositions are curable, yielding films and other articles having good tensile and elongation properties and excellent resistance to water and aqueous fluids. In addition, these latex compositions are self-curing at room temperature.

Self-curable latex compositions

A pressure-sensitive adhesive is prepared by blending (1) a small particle size latex having a hard monomer (such as styrene), a soft monomer (such as butadiene) and, optionally, an acid (such as itaconic acid), and (2) a tackifying resin. These adhesives have an excellent combination of properties including peel adhesion and shear adhesion.

Small particle size latex useful as a pressure sensitive adhesive

Non-woven fabrics are prepared from synthetic fibers by impregnating the fibers with a liquid binder system containing a polymer of from 35 to 60 weight percent of a hard monomer, 0 to 45 weight percent of butadiene or isoprene, 10 to 50 weight percent of an acrylate having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the ester portion and 1 to 5 weight percent of an ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid.
