A consumable filament for use in an extrusion-based additive manufacturing system, where the consumable filament comprises a core portion of a matrix of a first base polymer and particles dispersed within the matrix, and a shell portion comprising a same or a different base polymer. The consumable filament is configured to be melted and extruded to form roads of a plurality of solidified layers of a three-dimensional part, and where the roads at least partially retain cross-sectional profiles corresponding to the core portion and the shell portion of the consumable filament and retain the particles within the roads of the printed part and do not penetrate the outer surface of the shell portion.

A method for printing a three-dimensional part with an electrophotography-based additive manufacturing system having an electrophotography engine, a transfer medium, and a layer transfusion assembly includes providing a part material to the electrophotography-based additive manufacturing system, the part material compositionally comprising a charge control agent, and a thermoplastic material having a heat deflection temperature greater than about 150&#xb0; C., and has a powder form. The method includes electrostatically attracting the developed layers from the electrophotography engine to the transfer medium and moving the attracted layers to the layer transfusion assembly with the transfer medium, wherein the layer transfusion assembly comprises a nip roller. The method includes transfusing the moved layers to previously-printed layers of the three-dimensional part with by moving the attracted layers about a nip of a nip roller using heat and pressure over time.

According to one embodiment of the invention, a method for analyzing data from an instrument is disclosed. The raw data generated by the instrument, along with configuration data generated by a user, is packaged into a calling model. The raw data may include, for example, counts having a certain kinetic energy when analyzing photoelectron spectroscopy data. The configuration data may include several parameters selected by the user based on the composition and configuration of the structure being measured. The calling model may serve as an interface between the instrument and an engine for generating an algorithm for returning desired results to the user. The engine then generates the algorithm as well as the results specified by the user, and the calling model returns the results to the user. This allows a specific algorithm and results for a specific measured sample or structure to be generated using known algorithms and functions.

Techniques for analyzing data generated by instruments

The present invention relates to a control solution development environment coupled to a runtime environment constructed to insulate the control solution designer as well as the developed control applications from both the hardware and the operating system. This insulation frees the designer from having to deal with a tangle of control and operating system commands and considerations. The runtime environment manages the details of the process system resource and task allocation to implement the control strategies. Since the runtime environment insulates the developed control applications from changes in operating systems and hardware, applications developed to run in this environment are both reusable and portable. The runtime environment is scaleable, fault-tolerant, allows dynamic reconfiguration of the system, integration of diverse sensors and actuators and enables distributed control strategies. The runtime environment is built on C++ software language, is hostable on a variety of industry-standard computer operating systems, and readily accommodates legacy and third-party software tools.
