Boat seat accessory stand

A boat seat accessory stand includes a main support member, a sleeve member, a lower brace member, and an upper brace member for attaching an umbrella or other accessory to a typical pedestal mount boat seat. The boat seat accessory stand provides for support and rotation of the attached umbrella around the boat seat.

An improved protective coating system for metal substrates is described. Nickel-aluminide duplex coatings are improved by adding an effective amount of boron in the nickel coating step and by retaining the boron during the aluminization step. An unexpected result of the retained boron is its non-deleterious effect on oxidation protection. During aluminization, the boron surprisingly migrates to the coating/substrate interface, forming a diffusion barrier in situ. The barrier inhibits both inward diffusion of the nickel-aluminide coating and outward diffusion of substrate impurities. The process enables thinner, less expensive coatings.

Method for forming in situ diffusion barrier while diffusing aluminum

Three aluminum-lithium alloys are provided for high performance aircraft structures and engines. All three alloys contain 3 wt % copper, 2 wt % lithium, 1 wt % magnesium, and 0.2 wt % zirconium. Alloy 1 has no further alloying elements. Alloy 2 has the addition of 1 wt % iron and 1 wt % nickel. Alloy 3 has the addition of 1.6 wt % chromium to the shared alloy composition of the three alloys. The balance of the three alloys, except for incidentql impurities, is aluminum. These alloys have low densities and improved strengths at temperatures up to 260.degree. C. for long periods of time.

Elevated temperature aluminum alloys

A titanium alloy has greatly increased specific strength and increased thermostability. The alloy consists of a titanium matrix in which fibrous dispersoids are formed in situ. The dispersoids are rod and/or plate shaped and have a diameter or depth of about 0.1-0.5 microns and an aspect ratio of about 5-10. A typical alloy has the composition A-X where A is titanium or titanium alloy and X is boron, carbon, nitrogen, mixtures thereof, or mixtures with silicon.

Advanced titanium composite

A method of producing rapidly solidified metal powder utilizes a spinning metal source and a laser beam to melt the surface layer of the source and atomize it. The laser beam is directed at a glancing angle along the surface of the spinning metal source. The source spins at a high speed of 10,000-30,000 revolutions per minute. The atomized metal is solidified rapidly in an inert gas atmosphere. Very high cooling rates up to 10.sup.6 .degree. C. per second can be achieved. Very small and uniformly distributed particles of rapidly solidified metal can be obtained having a narrow particle size distribution from about 50-150 microns and typically having a high percentage of the particles at a particle size of below 100 microns.
