A wayside railway sensor package is provided to detect railway wheels for the purposes of assessing the speed and direction of a train in order to align any measured characteristic on said moving train with the proper vehicle. The stand-alone package is easily installed in the web of the rail using standard tools. When used in combination with recent processing techniques, the package can be used to replace one or more components or subsystems on all common wayside detectors while also providing enhanced capabilities and improved reliability. The package also contains sensors that provide data used for assessing additional rail, wheel, and vehicle conditions directly.

Wayside railway sensor package and method for application

A watermattress includes a plurality of elongated water-filled tubes in a suitable frame, and each tube includes a wave dampening insert of foam or fiber. A base strip made of a substantially flexible material, such as vinyl, is fastened to each end of the tube. The wave dampening insert is fastened at a plurality of places along the length of the insert to the base strip, whereby the insert is substantially incapable of sliding or moving around in the tube even when one end of the tube is lifted. The foregoing feature prevents the insert from becoming dislocated and distorted in the tube as a result of extended normal use of the watermattress or even when the tube is moved or lifted for the purpose of draining, filling or moving the watermattress, and thereby makes the watermattress user friendly.

A tube-type watermattress has a plurality of elongated tubes disposed in a head-to-toe direction in the mattress. A wave dampening insert enclosed in each tube has a center portion which is substantially thicker than the rest of the insert to provide additional firmness and 'lumbar' support in the area of the mattress where the lower back or 'lumbar' of a person resting on the mattress is usually disposed.

A method of assembling a connection for branched radiator coolant hose in which the hoses to be connected are adhered onto the ends of a T-shaped connector. Then a capsule of rubber is molded around the area of the connection and cured to form a unitary and integral connection.

In a floating point digitizer, an analog signal is delivered to two signal paths. One includes a delay line. In the first path, the analog signal is measured in terms of order of magnitude to provide a signal indicative of an exponent. This same value is utilized to set the gain of a variable gain amplifier to which the delayed signal is applied and from which a mantissa is resolved.
