An expandable valve () and valve frame device that may be implanted within the body, for example, at a position of the heart. The device may be surgically implanted and subsequently expanded at a later time. The device may include an expandable sewing member () surrounding the valve frame () at a region between upstream and downstream ends of the device, for attaching the device to surrounding tissue. The device may include a membrane () for blocking leakage out the side of the valve frame between opposite ends. However, the membrane may include a side opening () for guiding fluid flow toward an appropriate anatomical outflow tract. The device may include a hood-like covering attached to a tissue wall, for smoothly receiving and guiding fluid flow along a perpendicular bend. The device may further include a flared opening at a downstream end, providing adequate space for device attachment.

Expandable stent valve

Methods and apparatuses relate to treating vessels that have developed an aneurysm or vessels that are expected to develop an aneurysm (e.g., aortic aneurysm). The device may include a conduit having one or more coupling members that serve to couple the conduit and the vessel together. The conduit and coupling member(s) may cooperate to apply an inward radial force (e.g., physical pulling of the vessel wall inward) on the vessel wall, substantially preventing vessel enlargement. In some embodiments, coupling members are disposed at a midpoint region between opposite ends of the conduit, such as regularly along the length of the conduit. When deployed, the device reduces the risk of excessive vessel enlargement which may otherwise lead to undesirable rupture or dissection of the vessel.

Methods and apparatuses for treating vessels

A replacement heart valve apparatus. The heart valve apparatus includes a stent and a valve frame having a substantially cylindrical body defining a lumen. The valve frame includes a plurality of curved wire pairs attached to the substantially cylindrical body. Each curved wire pair includes an inner curved wire and an outer curved wire. The wire frame further having a plurality of leaflets. Each leaflet is attached to a respective inner curved wire and extends over a respective outer curved wire, so as to position the body of the leaflet within the lumen of the valve frame.

The present teachings relate to a heart valve prosthesis. The heart valve prosthesis includes a docking station () having a wire frame defining a lumen and a valve frame () for positioning within its lumen. The docking station includes a diaphragm () adapted to have an open position and a closed position, which provides a temporary control mechanism for preventing free regurgitation during the time period between the deployment of the docking station and the deployment of the valve frame, and a sealing mechanism for preventing paravalvar leakage.

An infusion port communicates with the distal lumen portion immediately adjacent the distal end of the tapering lumen portion. A valve assembly seals the front-end loading portion lumen proximally of the collapsed occluder. The distal end of the front-end loading portion lumen is inserted into the proximal end of an introducer and retrieval sheath assembly. A control assembly advances the occluder through the front-end loading portion, the introducer and retrieval sheath assembly and into the defect site. The retrieval sheath assembly is less flexible than the introducer sheath and is sufficiently rigid to evert the deployed occluder when retracted thereagainst.

A method for percutaneous transluminal front-end delivery of a collapsible prosthetic occluder using a front-end loading portion, a control assembly and an introducer sheath. The prosthetic device is collapsed in a lumen of a front-end loading portion. A valve assembly seals the front-end loading portion lumen proximally of the collapsed occluder. Fluid is then infused through a port extending into the front-end loading portion in communication with the front-end loading portion lumen to remove air bubbles from the collapsed prosthetic device. The prosthetic device is advanced using a control assembly from the front-end loading portion into the introducer and ultimately into the defect site.

A radially expandable endoprosthesis device (10) comprises an elongated sleeve member (12) in which the radially outward expansion of the sleeve member (12) is initially limited by connecting strips (22) which are operatively connected to the sleeve member (12). The connecting strips (22) are selectively removable to allow further radial outward expansion. Further, the sleeve can be C-shaped in cross sections when expanded, allowing space for growth of a vessel contained therein.

The device comprises a pair of opposed occluders that are connected to one another using an interconnection that allows the occluders to move relative to one another.
