A method for validating the operational characteristics of a mobile phone is provided. The message may include sending a message from the mobile phone to network testing equipment. This message may alert the network testing equipment that a debug state of the mobile phone is enabled. The method may also include sending test data from the network testing equipment to the mobile phone. The method may further include receiving the test data at the mobile phone. The method may yet further include creating a log of received data at the mobile phone. In addition, the method may include using short message service signaling to send at least a portion of the logged data from the mobile phone to the network test equipment.

Systems and methods for mobile phone validation

A mobile phone that uses OS virtualization for minimizing power consumption in mobile phones is provided. Apparatus and methods may involve conserving processor power in a mobile phone according to the invention may include the following steps. A first step may be awakening a first processing core from a low power state in response to a first operating system (OS) thread. A following step may include processing the first OS thread using the first processing core. A next step may include determining whether utilization of the first processing core over a first time period has exceeded a predetermined threshold. The method may also include awakening a second processing core from a low power consumption state if utilization of the first processing core over a first time period has exceeded a predetermined threshold.

An integrated circuit radio transceiver and method therefor includes primary transceiver operation circuitry. In addition to routine transceiver circuitry, the radio transceiver includes a service processor module operable to support redundant operations to facilitate any one of monitoring, test, device management and boot-up sequence functions of the primary transceiver operation circuitry. A mobile phone that uses OS virtualization for minimizing power consumption in mobile phones is provided. A mobile phone according to the invention may include a plurality of application stacks and a plurality of processor cores. Each of the application stacks preferably corresponds to one of the plurality of processor cores. The mobile phone also includes a hypervisor. In a first state, the hypervisor allocates tasks from each of the application stacks to the processor core that corresponds to the respective application stack. In a second state, the hypervisor allocates selected tasks from the plurality of application stacks to a single processor core. The second state may be an idle state and the tasks that are allocated to the single processor core may be periodic tasks.

A method for controlling the operation of a mobile phone backlight. The method may include receiving an incoming call. The method may also include receiving a selection from a user in response to receiving the incoming call. The method may include storing information relating to the selection received from the user. The method may further include turning off the mobile phone backlight after the passing of a predetermined time span of user inaction. The passing of the predetermined time span may follow the selection received from the user. The length of the predetermined time span may be determined at least in part using an algorithm. The method may also include modifying the algorithm based at least in part on the stored information.

A modular computer system (for example a blade server system) includes a plurality of information processing modules (e.g., server blades). Each information processing module can include a processor operable to provide information processing functions and a service controller operable to provide both management and console functions. A service processor can be connectable via a respective management connection to the service controller of each information processing module. Each management connection between the service processor and a service controller can be operable to carry both management signals and console signals. Management signals to be sent between the service processor and the service controller can be interlaced with console signals via the management connection in one or more management packets bounded by terminal escape sequences.

A method of assigning names to components of a networked computer system is provided. The networked computer system includes at least one modular computer system having at least one service processor module and a plurality of information processing modules removably received in a modular computer system housing. The method comprises: receiving at the service processor module a naming command message including a naming format from a management entity of the networked computer system. The method also comprises assigning at the service processor module a name to the service processor module and to the information processing modules received in the housing in accordance with the naming format; and transmitting a message from the service processor module to a domain name server of the networked computer system, the message including an IP address of each module and the name assigned to each respective module.
