A fluid transfer system () includes a transfer device () and an interface device (). The transfer device () includes a fluid transfer member () and a transfer coupling member () to align the fluid transfer member () with the interface device (). The interface device () includes a reservoir port (), a fluid transfer member receptacle (), an interface coupling member (), and a reservoir valve (). The interface coupling member () is configured to close the fluid transfer member receptacle () and to couple to the transfer coupling member () and open the fluid transfer member receptacle () to receive the fluid transfer member (). The reservoir valve (), e.g., a sliding seal, is configured to close the reservoir port () from the fluid transfer member receptacle () and to open the reservoir port () to the fluid transfer member () when the fluid transfer member () is positioned in the fluid transfer member receptacle (). The fluid transfer member () can include a plunger assembly configured to open and close the reservoir port ().

Interface and fluid-transfer system

A disposable container for fluid having an inlet and an outlet is provided. The container has a vortex breaker having a solid surface adapted to initially direct fluid away from the outlet and then through the outlet positioned adjacent the container outlet.

The present invention is a disposable bioreactor formed of molded plastic. The bioreactor is presterilized and has a top and body sealed to each other. One or more ports are formed in the top and side of the housing. Preferably at least one port is below the liquid/air level for the housing. The one or more ports that are below the liquid/air interface level may be used as sampling ports or access ports for probes or drains or supply ports for liquids or gases. The bioreactor provides a direct retrofit for the existing glass or steel assembly that utilizes the existing support structures and controls. The molded design overcomes issues of discontinuity, dead spots and the like due to its fixed dimensions that are built in by the molding process. Reproducible probe and other equipment location is also guaranteed through the use of the molded port features. The molded plastic allows for greater flexibility in material selection to reduce or eliminate lipid or cholesterol binding.

A manifold adaptor plate useful as a gasket having liquid pathways which permit passing of a filtrate, a feed and a retentate wherein admixture of the filtrate with the feed or the retentate is prevented is provided and is formed of an elastomeric layer, a rigid intermediate layer and a polymer layer. The elastomeric layer functions as a gasket and is bonded to the polymeric layer through the liquid pathways of the intermediate plate. An elastomer layer may be formed on both layers as well and optionally a second polymer layer between the intermediate layer and the second elastomer layer may also be used.

Manifold adaptor plate for filtration apparatus

A fluid path control element which when stacked alternatively with a fluid porous sheet can be formed into a filtration module. The fluid path control element comprises a porous membrane having sealed to a portion of its periphery a thermoplastic element that extends into an opening either through the membrane or in an opening through the thermoplastic element. The portion of the thermoplastic element that extends into the opening can be heat sealed with a second thermoplastic element to prevent fluid flow between the opening and the membrane.

Fluid path control element for fluid processing module

A process for making a fluid processing module is provided wherein a plurality of filtration elements is alternated with a fluid porous layer to form a stack. The filtration elements comprise a membrane sheet having a thermoplastic element bonded to a portion of an edge of the membrane. An opening is provided either through the membrane or through the thermoplastic element. A portion of the thermoplastic element extends into the opening and can be sealed to an adjacent positioned thermoplastic element to seal the porous sheet positioned between adjacently positioned membranes from fluid communication with the opening. Sealing can be effected by extending a heating element through the opening of the stack to effect simultaneous sealing of a plurality of thermoplastic elements.

Process for making a fluid processing module

An apparatus for bonding beam lead devices and flip chip devices onto mating conductive surfaces on a substrate or other surface and for bonding electrical leads to semiconductor devices and subsequently to mating conductive surfaces on a substrate or other surface, utilizing either thermocompression or ultrasonic energy. The bonding system of this disclosure includes a novel bonding tool having minute spherically shaped bonding surfaces which are caused by a novel pivoting mechanism to individually and successively bond each of a plurality of electrical leads in a complex wobbling motion which permits the bonding surfaces to trace an adjustable rectangular or other predetermined linear path around the periphery of the device. The system also includes a frequency modulated ultrasonic generator and a novel lead composite, developed for this apparatus.
