1-A-1-B-3-(2-R.sup.2 -4-N-R-N-R.sup.1 -aminophenyl)-3-(-4-R.sup.3 -phenylsulfonyl)prop-1-ene useful as color formers, particularly in transfer imaging, pressure-sensitive and thermal-responsive carbonless duplicating systems, are prepared by the interaction of the corresponding 1-A-1-B-ethene with the appropriate 2-R.sup.2 -4-N-R-N-4.sup.1 -benzaldehyde and the appropriate 4-R.sup.3 -benzenesulfinic acid in the presence of an acidic catalyst.
