A rotational duct blocker for a gas turbine engine includes a duct blocker rotor and a duct blocker stator. The duct blocker rotor includes a plurality of first vane segments that extend radially between an inner rotor platform and an outer rotor platform, and a plurality of first flow apertures that extend axially through the duct blocker rotor. Each first flow aperture also extends circumferentially between respective adjacent first vane segments. The duct blocker stator includes a plurality of second vane segments that extend radially between an inner stator platform and an outer stator platform, and a plurality of second flow apertures that extend axially through the duct blocker stator. Each second flow aperture also extends circumferentially between respective adjacent second vane segments. The first vane segments move circumferentially relative to the second vane segments to regulate fluid flowing between the first flow apertures and the second flow apertures.

Gas turbine engine duct blocker with rotatable vane segments

A rotational duct blocker for a gas turbine engine includes a duct blocker rotor and a duct blocker stator. The duct blocker rotor includes a plurality of first flow apertures extending axially therethrough, and a plurality of roller elements connected to an inner rotor platform. The first flow apertures are arranged circumferentially around the inner rotor platform. The duct blocker stator includes a plurality of second flow apertures extending axially therethrough, and a roller element track located radially within the inner rotor platform and in rolling contact with the roller elements. The second flow apertures are arranged circumferentially around an inner stator platform that is located axially adjacent to the inner rotor platform. The duct blocker rotor rotates relative to the duct blocker stator to regulate fluid flowing between the first flow apertures and the second flow apertures.

An assembly for dampening vibration movement between a cylinder and a concentric duct, where the cylinder is positioned radially inside the duct, includes a damper attached to the duct. The damper includes a housing attached to the duct, a contact member positioned at least partially inside the housing and having a contact surface adjacent an outer surface of the cylinder, and a cap threadedly engaged with the housing for applying a load on the contact member in a direction toward the cylinder.

Dampening device

A turbine engine has a case with an axis. A fan is mounted for rotation about the axis. A turbine is mechanically coupled to the fan to drive rotation of the fan about the axis. A number of compressor/turbine units are downstream of the fan and upstream of the turbine along a core flowpath. A number of compressors are coupled to the compressor/turbine units to receive air and deliver combustion gas to drive the turbine.

Pulsed combustion engine

A pulsed combustion device includes a support structure and a combustor carousel supported by the support structure and rotating relative thereto about an axis. The carousel has a number of combustion conduits in a circumferential array. Each conduit cyclically receives a charge and discharges combustion products of the charge.

A vernier duct blocker comprising a plurality of vanes each having a width and comprising a forward portion and an aft portion defining a plurality of gas paths each of the plurality of vanes being separated by a plurality of widths, and a rotatably movable ring interposed between the forward portion and the aft portion comprising a plurality of openings each having a width, wherein the width of one of the plurality of vanes differs from the width of another one of the plurality of vanes.
