Wrenches commonly known as 'pipe wrenches' which include sidewall surface configurations within a channel extending through a housing component of the wrench are described. Also described are wrenches that include one or more shim components that can be positioned in the housing channel. In addition, methods for reducing failure or fracturing of the wrench due to application of high side or lateral loads are described.

Various clutch adjusting assemblies for incorporating in drain cleaning machines are described. The assemblies enable adjustment or setting of a clutch in a drain cleaning machine without the use of tools.

Adapters are described which enable a wide array of tools to be secured and/or mounted in a chain pipe vise. Also described are methods of using adapters with chain pipe vises in order to stably mount tools in the chain pipe vise.

Adapters for chain pipe vises

A support system for use with one or more tools such as a handheld power drive and a geared threader is described. The support system includes a lower frame portion for contacting a work surface or floor, a mast assembly, releasable engagement provisions between the lower frame portion and the mast assembly, and mounting provisions on the mast for supporting one or more tools. The support system is configurable between a stand alone mode and a vehicle hitch mode.

Beveling tools having a variety of features are described. The tools can utilize a combination of handles, a protective external frame, guide rollers that are positionally adjusted by swing arms with timing lobes, or by an alternative guide bar mounting system, a helical knurled drive roller, guide rollers that have a convex or crowned face, skewed guide rollers, a positive clutch assembly for governing force applied to the guide rollers, a hand crank assembly for moving the tool when mounted on a workpiece, position adjustment provisions for varying the position of a milling head, and indicators providing visual feedback to an operator.

Transportable beveling tool

Press tools and particularly crimp tools having a C-frame tool head are described which are configured such that upon a typical use load, the C-frame head deflects to a position in which mating components or surfaces are aligned. Also described are C-frame heads that utilize a particular deflection compensating engagement connection between a piston and a ram die holder. In addition, various methods of compensating for deflection are described. The use of such configurations, engagement connections, and methods enables such tools to be formed from lighter weight materials and/or to incorporate weight optimization designs.

Tools having provisions associated with a wrench and a vise are described. The tools can include lateral support members extending from the handle that increase stability during use as a vise. The support members can be removed and/or placed in a non-use position when the tool is used as a wrench. The tool can also include support plates that provide a clearance space between a workpiece and a movable jaw of the tool. Various other features of the tools are described.

A soil pipe cutting tool is described. The tool includes a telescoping housing assembly, a feedscrew in threaded engagement with the housing assembly, and a cutting chain. The cutting tool can be powered by an impact driver. Also described are rotary powered tools. In certain versions, the tools include torque limiting provisions to prevent transfer of excessively high levels of torque to a working end of the tool. Various methods of use are also described.

Direct action powered soil pipe cutter

A pipe vise stand having increased utility and greater useable work space, particularly during use of vise provisions associated with the stand, is described. The stand features a base plate having a unique configuration in which one or more pipe benders are located within a workpiece support region defined along an upwardly directed face of the plate between vise provisions and corresponding support provisions.

A pipe vise stand and system for increasing the size capacity of the pipe vise stand are described. Upon incorporation of the system in a pipe vise stand, the stand can accommodate pipes of significantly larger diameter. The system includes a pipe support member which is configured to be positioned on a vise base of the stand. The system also includes a jackscrew extender that provides or relocates a jackscrew associated with the stand to a lateral position alongside the stand. Related provisions and methods are also described.

Pipe vise stands and components for increasing capacity thereof

A variety of work stands and support assemblies for supporting workpieces such as pipes, are described. The work stands include a base plate and a welding stand-off or grounding lug, at which an electrical grounding cable can be readily attached.
