An absolute proportioning pumping system includes an electric motor assembly powering a first pump at a first flow rate and powering a second pump at a second flow rate. A proportioned fluid output includes a first fluid pumped by the first pump and a second fluid pumped by the second pump. The pumping system provides a desired ratio of the first fluid to the second fluid at the proportioned fluid output, relatively independently of pressure and flow rate at the output. In accord with further embodiments, a pump and motor assembly is mounted to and generally surrounded by a liquid tank. The pump and motor assembly may include a pair of fixed ratio outputs driven from a common motor, or may include a single variable output pump either slaved to a master pump or controlled through a timed bypass valve to control output flow rate.

A fluid pumping system that includes a motor and a pump, wherein an output shaft of the motor is directly coupled to an input shaft of the pump. This coupling between the output shaft of the motor and the input shaft of the pump may be the primary mechanism for coupling the motor to the pump. Such a configuration may be called a 'floating pump mount', because the pump is primarily coupled to the motor via the shaft connection. As a result of this connection, the output shaft of the motor may be naturally 'aligned' with the input shaft of the pump. To help prevent the pump from freely rotating with the output shaft of the motor during operation, a rotational stop mechanism may be provided. The rotational stop mechanism may include at least one resilient member for absorbing or substantially absorbing at least some of any relative movement between the pump and the motor.

A water mist cooling system including a supply of water at a supply outlet. A plurality of misting nozzles are serially connected by hollow tubing means to form a line having two ends. A pump has an inlet connected to the supply outlet, and an outlet connected to a first of two ends of a line of nozzles. The pump is controlled whereby water is pumped by the pump at a preselected pressure through said hollow tubing means to the misting nozzles and thence exiting the nozzles as water mist to the atmosphere. Pressure regulator means is connected to the other of said ends of the line of misting nozzles to provide a line flushing function.

A bi-directional fluid valve apparatus comprising a valve member adapted to co-act with an annular shoulder at the end of a fluid bore, the valve member having two axial ends. A flat surface on a first end having a diameter greater than that of the shoulder is positioned with the flat surface abutting the axial end surface of the shoulder. At least two axially extending and circumferentially spaced apart ribs are on the second axial end thereof, each of the ribs terminating in an end surface. The ribs are positioned so that the end surfaces are in axial alignment with, and spaced a preselected distance from, the axial end surface of the shoulder. Hollow coil spring means are positioned within the recesses in register with the bores, and having a first end engaging one of the shoulders, and a second end engaging the at least three circumferentially spaced apart ribs and the second axial end of the valve member.

A water mist cooling system including a reverse osmosis apparatus for producing pure water at an outlet. A plurality of misting nozzles are serially connected by hollow tubing means to form a line having two ends. A pump has an inlet connected to the outlet of the reverse osmosis apparatus, and an outlet connected to a first of two ends of a line of nozzles. The pump is controlled whereby pure water is pumped by the pump at a preselected pressure through said hollow tubing means to the misting nozzles and thence exiting the nozzles as pure water mist to the atmosphere.

A method of cleaning a soiled carpet by first prespraying the carpet with a preselected liquid chemical sprayed through a nozzle at a preselected specific pressure/flow rate to obtain an optimized spray droplet size which penetrates deep into the carpet while utilizing only a minimum volume of chemical solution and preventing overwetting of the carpet. After the prespray chemical has had sufficient time to chemically react with soil in the carpet, then the carpet is rinsed with pure water. The final step in the process is the extracting, by use of a vacuum, the prespray chemical and pure water from the carpet.
