A test strip for confirming a desired proportion of components in dialysate, including a first medium capable of indicating the concentration of bicarbonate ion, and a second medium capable of indicating the concentration of glucose. The test strip defines a first region impregnated with the first medium, and a second region impregnated with the second medium. The test strip optionally includes a third medium capable of indicating the pH of the dialysate. The third medium is impregnated at a third region on the test strip. Alternatively, the test strip comprises a bicarbonate test pad attached to the first region, a glucose test pad attached to the second region, and optionally a pH test pad attached to the third region. The glucose test pad is impregnated with the first medium, the glucose test pad is impregnated with the second medium, and the pH test pad is impregnated with the third medium.

Test strip for determining dialysate composition

A test strip incubation device and method for developing a test strip having a reagent test pad disposed thereon, the reagent test pad requiring an incubation time, which allows greater accuracy and reliability of test results as well as a narrower window of PASS and FAIL indication concentrations. The device comprises a test strip holder which allows a wetted reagent test pad to be vertically stored in an enclosed reaction chamber during the incubation period. The reaction chamber is bounded by a substantially clear material to allow the user to easily observe the status of the reagent test pad held in the reaction chamber. The enclosed reaction chamber provides a high humidity environment for minimizing water evaporation from the reagent test pad during the incubation period. The device may be economically formed from low cost materials, is simple to use and facilitates disposal of the sample material after testing. The device is advantageously used in combination with a storage device which includes recesses for easy storage of several devices and allows viewing of the a reagent test pads. The method comprises the steps of wetting the reagent test pad and vertically placing the reagent test pad in an enclosed reaction chamber during the incubation period. The enclosed reaction chamber provides a high humidity environment for minimizing the evaporation of water from the reagent test pad.

Test strip incubation device and method

A unitized multilayer dry reagent analytical chemistry test structure and device and method of fabricating such device is described. The device includes two or more contiguous layers of absorbent or porous paper or polymeric material, at least one of which is incorporated with a test reagent composition, the layers attached to each other with intermediate porous attachment layers by fusion bonding. When the device is contacted with the fluid being tested the attachment layers allow the free flow of such fluid from one layer to the next.
