Methods of increasing hydrocarbon production from subterranean hydrocarbon-containing formations having impaired permeability are provided wherein the formations are contacted with a penetrating solvent and cationic perfluoro compounds represented by the following formula: ##STR1## Such perfluoro compounds are adsorbed onto surfaces of the formation and prevent or substantially reduce wetting of the surfaces.

Method of increasing hydrocarbon production by remedial well treatment

A liquid gel concentrate for forming a high viscosity treating fluid is provided which can be premixed and stored before being used. The concentrate is comprised of water, a hydratable polymer which yields viscosity upon hydration and an inhibitor having the property of reversibly reacting with the hydratable polymer in a manner whereby the rate of hydration of the polymer is retarded. Upon the selective reversal of the hydration inhibiting reaction the polymer is hydrated and high viscosity yielded thereby. The concentrate can be utilized directly or it can be diluted with additional water to form a large volume of high viscosity treating fluid.

Methods of treating subterranean well formations

Methods and additives are provided for bringing about the delayed release of a chemical such as a gel breaker or demulsifier in an aqueous fluid. The additives are pelletized solids comprised of the chemical to be released, a hydratable gelling agent and a breaker for the gel produced by the gelling agent when hydrated.
