Orthopaedic surgical reference instrument

An orthopaedic joint replacement system is shown and described. The system includes a number of prosthetic components configured to be implanted into a patient's knee. The system also includes a number of surgical instruments configured for use in preparing the bones of the patient's knee to receive the implants. A method or technique for using the surgical instruments to prepare the bones is also disclosed.

System for preparing a patient's tibia in an orthopaedic joint replacement procedure

An orthopaedic surgical system for use in implanting a total knee prosthesis includes an adjustable tibial trial component that is movable in the anterior/posterior direction and rotatable when installed on the resected surface of a patient's tibia. A method of using such a system is also disclosed.

A kit of parts for use in a unicondylar knee replacement procedure having a keel punch, a unicondylar tibial trial and an impactor. The keel punch including a cutting formation on the inferior side configured to form a slot in a resected part of a patient's tibia, and a first attachment formation on the superior side. The unicondylar tibial trial having a body defining a slot passing therethrough between an upper surface and a lower surface that extends parallel to a longitudinal axis extending from an anterior end to a posterior end of the body. The slot configured to slidably receive the keel punch. The impactor includes a second attachment formation and is releasably attachable to the keel punch by slidingly engaging the second attachment formation with the first attachment formation. An assembly for use in and methods of trialing during a unicondylar knee replacement procedure are also disclosed.

Tibial preparation

The invention relates to a cutting block for use in preparing a bone during orthopaedic surgery. The cutting block comprises a bone attachment face, and a front face opposing the bone attachment face. The cutting block further comprises at least a first group of bone pin holes, each hole being configured for removable receipt of a bone pin. The first group of pin holes includes at least two bone pin holes that extend between the bone attachment face and the front face. The at least two bone pin holes extend parallel to each other in an anterior-posterior direction. The at least two bone pin holes are offset from each other in at least one of a superior-inferior direction or a medial-lateral direction. The at least two bone pin holes are interconnected.
