An optical high-power amplifier ('OPHA') circuit, e.g., for a spaceborne satellite-based communication network, includes fiberoptic gain and polarization maintenance (“PM”) stages, a polarization splitter, first and second photodetectors, and an electronic control unit (“ECU”). The gain stage outputs an amplified optical signal in response to a low-power (“LP”) optical input signal. The PM stage outputs separate high and low power output signals in response to the amplified signal. A majority of power of the input signal is allocated to the HP output signal. The polarization splitter transmits the LP output signal along the slow and/or fast polarization axis. The photodetectors are arranged on the slow and fast axes. The ECU outputs a polarizer control signal to a polarization rotator device in response to electrical signals from one or both photodetectors to command the rotator device to output the LP optical input signal with a targeted polarized output state.

A method for self-calibrating a radar system includes forming a calibration loop-back signal path. The calibration loop-back signal path is configured for determining a passband response of each of a radio frequency (RF) signal path, a local oscillator (LO) signal path, and an intermediate frequency (IF) signal path of the radar system. The method also includes transmitting a set of calibration signals into the RF signal path and the LO signal path and measuring output signals from the IF signal path in a receiver of the radar system. The method further includes determining the passband response of each of the RF signal path, the LO signal path and the IF signal path from the measured output signals and compensating for distortions and/or non-linearities in the signal paths using the passband response of each signal path.

Self-compensating radar system

Technologies are described herein for a phase deviation multiplication apparatus that implements an in-place multiplication approach for multiplying the phase deviation of an input signal while maintaining the frequency of the carrier signal within a frequency band of operation. According to an embodiment, a multi-stage phase deviation multiplication apparatus includes a plurality of sequentially arranged phase deviation multipliers, including at least a first phase deviation multiplier and a last phase deviation multiplier. The phase deviation multipliers have respective predetermined phase deviation multiplication factors. The first phase deviation multiplier receives an input signal and the last phase deviation multiplier generates a last phase deviated signal. The last phase deviated signal has a phase deviation multiplication factor that is the product of the respective predetermined phase deviation multiplication factors of the plurality of phase deviation multipliers.

A signal treating apparatus for presenting an output signal representing an input signal over a signal range includes: (a) an input section receiving the input signal and presenting a first filtered signal limited to a first bandwidth at a first circuit locus; the input section presenting a second filtered signal limited to a second bandwidth at a second circuit locus; (b) an amplifying unit receiving the first filtered signal and presenting an increased gain signal at an amplifier output locus; (c) a detector coupled with the amplifier output locus and presenting third bandwidth-limited signal limited to a third bandwidth less than the first bandwidth at a third circuit locus; and (d) a combining section coupled with the second and third circuit loci and presenting a resulting signal related with the second filtered signal and the third filtered signal; said resultant signal being said output signal.

Method and apparatus for treating a received signal to present a resulting signal with improved signal accuracy

A photonic system and method are provided. The system includes an optical source configured to generate a carrier signal; and a modulator configured to modulate the carrier signal with a radio frequency, ('RF') input signal to generate a modulated signal. The system also includes an optical filter configured to filter the modulated signal to generate a vestigial sideband modulated signal; and an optical detector configured to demodulate the vestigial sideband signal to generate an RF output signal. The system further includes a wavelength controller module configured to set an operating parameter of the optical source.

System and method for a photonic system

A plurality of nozzles are located on each side of a foot washing station on curved portions of spray members. At least some of the nozzles are located at a plurality of elevations and are downwardly directed to knock debris off the lower leg and foot of a user to thus wash the debris away. A foot platform supports the foot or feet of a user is preferably continuously sloped so that water does not accumulate at any portion of the foot platform. Additionally, an actuator is preferably actuated by the placement of the weight of the foot on the foot platform to begin the spraying of the foot or feet with water in a hands-free operation. Spray nozzle tips are screwed into orifices which then dispense water under pressure preferably in a spray pattern with highly atomized water pellets efficiently removing debris from the feet of a user.

The first member is provided with a slot through which the first linear portion extends and moves.

A locking and dead bolt locking device associated with the upper rail or frame portion of a window or door sash slideable in a fixed frame, having a latching arrangement engaging a horizontal rail portion and a dead bolt arrangement engaging the frame and mounted on an upper portion of the sash. The latching arrangement includes a tongue latch portion operable normal to the plane of the window and with the dead bolt being integrally carried thereby. When closed, the tongue portion of the latch engages a striker plate of said rail while the deadbolt is engaged with the frame to prevent opening of said latch. Simultaneously, the sash is secured with respect to the frame thereby providing a dual means for securing the sash in a close position in said frame.
