A method and system for application-level auto-scaling in a cloud computing environment is provided. An example system includes a data collector and a scaling module. The data collector is to collect application-level data that reflects demand for a subject computing application executing on the virtual instance of a machine provided by a virtualization service. The scaling module is to select a scaling action based on the application-level data and issue a request to perform the scaling action with respect to the virtual instance of a machine.

Autonomous application-level auto-scaling in a cloud

The present disclosure includes systems and techniques relating to document access auditing. According to an aspect, the invention involves receiving a request relating to an electronic document associated with a document tracking system; retrieving actions-taken information associated with the electronic document and maintained by the document tracking system; combining and signing the electronic document and the actions-taken information to form a signed document that includes the actions-taken information; and providing the signed document to enable access to the actions-taken information independent of the document tracking system. According to another aspect, the invention involves presenting a consent query that requests consent to an audit event to be recorded by a document control system for an electronic document tethered to the document control system; receiving a consent indication with respect to a consent statement relating to the audit event; and sending information corresponding to the consent indication to the document control system.

Document access auditing

An application framework may include a cloud-independent application manager, a cloud-independent content services manager, and cloud-independent content services servers. The framework may dynamically install and manage scalable, multi-tenant applications in a cloud, and may scale the applications, as needed. The application manager may receive and handle requests to install application domains and configurations thereof, and may receive and respond to requests for information about servers on which installed methods are available. The content services servers may execute installed methods, using underlying resources of the cloud, through a cloud-specific SPI. The content services manager and application manager may work together using shared cloud storage to provide scalable content services at a very large scale. In the context of the framework described herein, an 'application' may be defined by methods bundled into configurations, and by various cost-based and/or performance-based rules that specify how server instances providing those methods are to be managed.

System and method for installation and management of cloud-independent multi-tenant applications

A system is provided to reroute a request received within one virtualization service for processing within another virtualization service. The system comprises an offload manager, and a response service module. The offload manager may be configured to determine that an overflow request from a client computer system is suitable for being processed at a computer system provided within a second virtualization service and, in response, reroute the overflow request to a computer system provided within a second virtualization service. The response service module may be configured to receive a result of processing of the overflow request from the computer system provided within the second virtualization service and prepare the received result for communicating to the client computer system.

System and method for rerouting a request between virtualization services

In some embodiments, a method includes receiving a modifiable electronic document. The method includes generating a new version of the modifiable electronic document. The method also includes encrypting the new version of the modifiable electronic document using an encryption key that is used to encrypt the modifiable electronic document and different versions of the modifiable electronic document. The method includes saving the new version of the modifiable electronic document.

Systems and techniques to provide distributed document version control. In general, in one implementation, the technique includes: receiving a request to take an action with respect to a distributed electronic document, identifying, in response to the request, information associated with the distributed electronic document, the associated information indicating a second electronic document different from the distributed electronic document, and imparting information concerning the second electronic document to force the action to be taken with respect to the second electronic document. Receiving the request can occur at a server, and the request can be from a client to take the action with respect to the distributed electronic document, retained locally at the client. The associated information can be retained at the server, and imparting the second document information can involve relating the second document information (e.g., the second document or a link to it) from the server to the client.

Distributed document version control

Systems and techniques to provide transparent authentication integration. In general, in one implementation, the technique includes: receiving a request from a client to take an action with respect to an electronic document, in response to the request, obtaining an authentication process, and sending the authentication process to the client for use in identifying a current user and controlling the action with respect to the electronic document based on the current user and document-permissions information associated with the electronic document. Obtaining the authentication process can involve requesting and receiving the authentication process from a second server. The authentication process can use an existing interface provided by the client to communicate authentication information to the server.

Transparent authentication process integration

Systems and techniques to provide offline access in a document control system. In general, in one implementation, the technique includes: receiving a request from a client, and pre-authorizing the client, in response to the request, to allow actions by a user as a member of a group of users by sending to the client offline access information including a first key associated with the group, the first key being useable at the client to access an electronic document by decrypting a second key in the electronic document. Receiving a request can involve receiving a request from the client to take an action with respect to a second document. The technique can also include verifying the user at the client as an authenticated user, and the offline access information can include user-specific keys, group-specific keys, a policy, and a document revocation list.

A method, apparatus and computer program product for providing protection for a document is presented. Document content of the document is obtained. An occurrence of a security code within the document content is detected, the security code associated with the document content. A security policy associated with the security code is identified. The identified security policy is then applied to the document content.
