A fluid collection device includes a funnel, a body, a chamber outlet, and a fluid permeable structure. The funnel has a mouth with an outer periphery and narrows to a base defining an opening. The body includes a proximal end region and a distal end region distal to the funnel, and defines a chamber in fluid communication with the opening at the base of the funnel and extending from the opening beyond the outer periphery of the mouth of the funnel to the distal end region. The chamber outlet is in fluid communication with the chamber and positioned at the distal end region of the body. The fluid permeable structure is positioned within the chamber of the elongated body, and fills at least a portion of the chamber between the opening and the chamber outlet.

Female external catheter devices having a urethral cup, and related systems and methods

Examples relate to devices, systems, and methods for fluid collection such as urine. The urine collection device includes a fluid impermeable barrier and a fluid permeable body. The fluid impermeable barrier at least partially defines a chamber. The fluid impermeable barrier includes at least one elongated portion having a first width and distal to the aperture and a second portion having a second width greater than the first width. The second portion at least partially defines an opening in the fluid impermeable barrier, and the opening has a maximum lateral dimension greater than the first width of the elongated portion. The fluid permeable body is configured to wick fluid away from the opening into the at least one elongated portion.

Urine collection devices having a relatively wide portion and an elongated portion and related methods

A fluid collection system may include a fluid collection device, a tube, a fluid collection container configured to receive fluid from the fluid collection device, and a vacuum source configured to pull an at least partial vacuum to draw the fluid from the fluid collection device through the tube into the fluid collection container. The fluid collection device may include a fluid impermeable barrier including an outer surface and an inner surface, the fluid impermeable barrier defining a chamber, at least one opening, and a fluid outlet. The fluid collection device may include a porous material disposed in the chamber and an external support coupled to the outer surface of the fluid impermeable barrier. The fluid impermeable barrier exhibits a first shape prior to shaping the external support and a second shape after shaping the external support with the first shape being different from the second shape.

A fluid collection system may include a fluid collection assembly configured to receive urine from a user, a container configured to sore the urine collected from the fluid collection assembly, a collection tube disposed between the fluid collection assembly and the container, and a bi-directional pump. The fluid collection system operates in a first configuration to draw urine from the fluid collection assembly into the container and a second configuration to drain the urine and clean the fluid collection system.
