Example implementations relate signal connector braces. For instance, in an example a signal connector brace can include a housing having an exterior surface, and a protrusion extending from the housing to couple the housing to a via of a circuit board thereby positioning the exterior surface of the housing in contact with a corresponding exterior surface of a signal connector to brace the signal connector.

Examples herein relate to cuts in a circuit board. In some examples, a circuit board can include a signal connector located on the circuit board, and cuts extending through at least a body of the circuit board that are adjacent to the signal connector and extend from a perimeter of the circuit board to an inner portion of the circuit board, where the circuit board flexes relative to the signal connector responsive to the circuit board experiencing a force.

In some examples, an apparatus includes electronic equipment and a port assembly electrically coupled to the electronic equipment. The port assembly can include a port to receive a plug as well as an electromagnetic interference (EMI) grounding member disposed on the periphery of the port assembly. The apparatus can further include a housing to securely house the equipment. The housing can include a panel with a panel opening for the port assembly. The panel opening can include a vent portion to permit air venting for the electronic equipment through the vent portion of the panel when a plug is plugged into the port.

Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to the estimation of temperature based on a fan control signal. Example embodiments include the estimation of temperature based on a fan control signal having a value based on a temperature reading of a temperature sensor.

A chassis extension module includes an extension housing structure and a support structure. The extension housing structure is to be attached to a housing structure of another module. Attachment of the extension housing structure to the housing structure of the other module expands an inner volume of an assembly.

A keying mechanism within a device bay allows a device connector of a device to make electrical connection with the device bay connector when a key slot of the device is located in one of a plurality of predetermined locations on the device. The keying mechanism prevents the device connector from making electrical connection with the device bay connector when the device does not have a key slot in any of the predetermined locations.

A handle assembly is for use with an electronic device having a chassis, where at least a portion of the handle assembly is part of a path that crosses through the chassis. The handle assembly has a handle member moveable with respect to the chassis, wherein the handle member has a profile to allow for gripping by a user to move the electronic device. The handle assembly has an electrical contact to make electrical connection with the grounding mechanism of the chassis upon the handle member being moved to a first position.

An electronic system, an apparatus for cooling an electronic system, an electronics cooling apparatus, and associated method use a clutch to operate a cooling fan. An electronics cooling fan for usage in cooling an electronic system comprises a clutch that disengages upon failure wherein the electronics cooling fan is configured to freewheel upon disengagement of the clutch.

A force distributor is configured for disposition between a printed circuit board and a stiffening plate, which is spaced from the printed circuit board. The force distributor is configured to distribute a compressive force between the printed circuit board, an interposer and a land grid array module carried on a side of the printed circuit board opposite the stiffening plate. The force distributor comprises a spring element comprising a first portion and a second portion with the first portion extending radially outward from the second portion. The spring element is configured for placement so that the first portion is secured to the stiffening plate and the second portion is biased in unsecured, pressing contact against the printed circuit board.

A method and apparatus to mount a uniform force hydrostatic bolster plate to a substrate. One embodiment of the invention involves a method to assemble a uniform force hydrostatic bolster plate on a substrate. A second embodiment of the invention involves a method to fabricate a uniform force hydrostatic bolster plate. A third embodiment of the invention involves an assembled substrate with a uniform force hydrostatic bolster plate on the opposite side of the assembled substrate, under an electrical contact area of a component on the assembled substrate.

A resilient, electrically conductive EMI gasket is disposed between two jaws. A cam-lever or other actuator is operably linked to the jaws. The cam-lever can be used to drive the jaws closer together, thereby squeezing the gasket and causing a portion of the gasket to protrude, preferably beyond an edge of at least one of the jaws. The protruding portion of the gasket contacts a mating surface of an opening, through which a device was installed, or a mating surface on an adjacent device. This contact seals the space between the EMI gasket mechanism and the mating surfaces, i.e. the contact closes a gap and thus maintains a continuous EMI shield therebetween. The gap is closed against passage of EMI radiation without relying on device insertion force to cause the EMI gasket to adequately contact the mating surface. Alternatively, an inflatable resilient EMI gasket is in fluid communication with a pump, and an actuator is operably linked to the pump. The actuator can be used to operate the pump and, thereby, inflate the gasket, thus causing a portion of the gasket to protrude and contact a mating surface.

An electromagnetic shield assembly is disclosed. In one embodiment, the present invention is comprised of a frame. The present embodiment is further comprised of an electromagnetic gasket surrounding the frame. The present embodiment is also comprised of an actuating element coupled with the electromagnetic gasket. The actuating element is adapted to retract and deploy a portion of the electromagnetic gasket with respect to the frame to provide an adjustable electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield.

A device for assembling circuit boards. The device has an upper surface for receiving a compressing force. The device also has a lower surface for compressing a number of compression devices in a land grid array assembly while allowing access to a number of fasteners associated with the compression devices. The device is able to assist in the formation of an electrical contact between a chip package in the land grid array assembly and a circuit board by the lower surface being pressed against the compression devices to compress the compression devices and then allowing the plurality of fasteners to be tightened.
