A method of transferring at least one subterranean core sample from a retrieval vessel to a testing vessel can include removing at least one pressure barrier on the retrieval vessel using a linear actuator while maintaining a sampling pressure on the at least one subterranean core sample at which the at least one subterranean core sample is taken from a subterranean formation. The method can also include pressurizing the testing vessel to the sampling pressure using the linear actuator, and transferring the at least one subterranean core sample from the retrieval vessel to the testing vessel. The method can further include sealing the testing vessel with the at least one subterranean core sample at the sampling pressure, where the testing vessel allows the at least one subterranean core sample to be tested while the at least one subterranean core sample is maintained at the sampling pressure.

An artificial lift system utilizing a downhole impeller-style pump and a motor at the surface. The system includes a centralizer for use with the rod string or tubing. The centralizer centralizes a rotating rod at intermediate points within the tubing string. The centralizer includes a plurality of flexure springs and bearings. A rod string tensioner induces a tension load on the rod string.

Artificial lift systems utilizing high speed centralizers

A centralizer for use in high speed rotor dynamics applications includes a housing having a first end portion and a second end portion. The centralizer further includes a rotatable shaft positioned within a cavity of the housing. The centralizer also includes flexure springs that are each attached to and extend between the first end portion and the second end portion. The flexure springs are compressible toward a middle portion of the housing that is between the first end portion and the second end portion. The centralizer further includes roller wheels attached to the flexure springs.

A system for transferring at least one subterranean core sample under pressure can include a retrieval vessel that collects and houses the at least one subterranean core sample at a sampling pressure at which the at least one subterranean core is collected. The system can also include a linear actuator that couples to the retrieval vessel through a valve in the open position at a first time, where the linear actuator facilitates removal of at least one pressure barrier from the retrieval vessel through the valve at the first time while maintaining the sampling pressure of the at least one subterranean sample. The system can further include a testing vessel that couples to the linear actuator through the valve in the open position at a second time, and a hydraulic device that facilitates pressurizing the testing vessel to the sampling pressure at the second time.

A subterranean coring assembly can include a body having at least one wall that forms a cavity, wherein the cavity has a top end and a bottom end. The subterranean coring assembly can also include a first flow regulating device movably disposed within the cavity, where the first flow regulating device is configured to move from a first default position to a first position within the cavity based on first flow characteristics of fluid that flows into the top end of the cavity toward the bottom end of the cavity.

A downhole on-demand power source system can include at least one first energy storage device located within a wellbore disposed in a subterranean formation in a first inactive state. The system can also include at least one first trigger that initiates the at least one first energy storage device from the first inactive state to a first active state. The at least one first energy storage device, once initiated, can provide a first power to an electrical load disposed in the wellbore proximate to the at least one first energy storage device. The at least one first energy storage device, when in the first inactive state, is incapable of providing the first power.

A testable back pressure valve can include a housing comprising a housing body. The valve can also include a valve seat coupled to the housing, where the valve seat includes a valve seat body having a first cavity and a second cavity, and where the valve seat further includes a first network of channels disposed in the valve seat body. The valve can further include a valve head movably disposed within the first cavity of the valve seat. The valve can also include a piston follower movably disposed within the second cavity of the valve seat, where the valve head is fixedly coupled to the piston follower. The valve can further include a travel piston movably disposed within the second cavity of the valve seat, where the travel piston is moveably coupled to the piston follower.

A testable back pressure valve can include a body. The valve can also include a first flow regulating device movably disposed within a top end of the body, where the first flow regulating device is configured to move from a first default position to a first position based on first flow characteristics of a first fluid that flows into a top end of the body toward a bottom end of the body. The valve can further include a second flow regulating device movably disposed within the bottom end of the body. The valve can also include a network of channels disposed within the body between the first flow regulating device and the second flow regulating device.

A system for monitoring a floating roof of a liquid storage tank and a method for use of the system are described. The system includes linear position measuring devices to determine the vertical location and orientation of the floating roof within the storage tank and one or more transmitters to relay such information to a monitoring, recording, or control device, or to a remote computer network location. Typically, three measuring devices are used, positioned at or near the top of the storage tank and generally equally spaced around the perimeter of the tank. The system and method are useful to monitor the position and inclination of a liquid storage tank floating roof, such as may be used in the petrochemical, chemical and other industries where such storage tanks are in use.

A pressure sensor for sensing pressure of a fluid includes a diaphragm separator having a protrusion. The pressure sensor further includes a resonator, where the protrusion is in contact with the resonator on a first side of the resonator. The protrusion is positioned to exert an imparted force onto the resonator. The pressure sensor also includes a backing diaphragm positioned on a second side of the resonator. The backing diaphragm exerts a counter force onto the resonator in response to the imparted force.

A pressure sensor for sensing pressure of a fluid includes a diaphragm flexure and a crystal retaining flexure. The diaphragm flexure is designed to exert imparted force on the crystal retaining flexure. The imparted force is proportional to fluid pressure exerted on the diaphragm flexure. The pressure sensor further includes a resonator having a round outer perimeter. A portion of the crystal retaining flexure is positioned between the diaphragm flexure and the resonator. The crystal retaining flexure is designed to exert a load on the resonator. The load results from the imparted force exerted on the crystal retaining flexure by the diaphragm flexure.

A pressure sensor for sensing pressure of a fluid includes a diaphragm flexure and a crystal retaining flexure. The diaphragm flexure is designed to exert imparted force on the crystal retaining flexure. The imparted force is proportional to fluid pressure exerted on the diaphragm flexure. The pressure sensor further includes a resonator having opposing curved end portions connected to each other by a bridge section. A portion of the crystal retaining flexure is positioned between the diaphragm flexure and the resonator. The crystal retaining flexure is designed to exert a load on the resonator. The load results from the imparted force exerted on the crystal retaining flexure by the diaphragm flexure.

A pressure sensor for sensing pressure of a fluid includes a diaphragm separator and a flexure structure. The diaphragm separator exerts an imparted force on the flexure structure, where the imparted force is proportional to fluid pressure exerted on the flexure structure. The pressure sensor further includes a piezoelectric resonator. A first resonator interface section of the flexure structure is in contact with a first edge of the piezoelectric resonator. A second resonator interface section of the flexure structure is in contact with a second edge of the piezoelectric resonator. The first edge and the second edge are opposite narrow edges of the piezoelectric resonator. The flexure structure exerts a load proportional to the imparted force onto the first edge of the piezoelectric resonator.
