A portable information handling system includes a touch function row between a keyboard and a display that accepts touches at plural locations to initiate an on-screen-display user interface for a selected of plural functions based upon a touch location. The touch locations may be identified with illumination points and unlabeled as to an associated function since the function associated with a touch location is presented at the display. Alternatively, a secondary display presents function key images at the touch function row. The on-screen-display user interface presents different control interfaces when touches include multiple fingers and drag versus non-drag inputs.

The processor also receives data indicating a current battery discharge rate. The processor determines a second battery discharge rate based on operations to be performed during a period of time. The processor also determines a needed battery charge level at a start of the period of time. Based on the battery charge status, the current battery discharge rate, the second battery discharge rate, and the needed battery charge level, the processor sets the information handling system in a state to achieve the battery charge level.

An information handling system includes a fan to cool a component of the information handling system, and a sensor device. The fan includes a first fan inlet, a second fan inlet, and a fan outlet. The fan is configured to draw air into the first and second fan inlets and to blow air out the fan outlet. The sensor device includes a sensor inlet, a sensor outlet, and a cover. The sensor is coupled to the fan with the first fan inlet collocated with the sensor outlet such that air drawn into the first fan inlet is first drawn through the sensor inlet. The cover is configured in a first position to cover the sensor inlet to permit no air flow through the sensor inlet and in a second position to uncover the sensor inlet to permit air to flow through the sensor inlet.

System and method for measuring and controlling dust ingress in a particulate matter sensor in an information handling system

A sensor measures an environmental factor in an ambient environment immediately surrounding an information handling system. A processor determines that the information handling system is in a first location, provides a first sampling frequency of the sensor based upon the first location, determines that the information handling system is in a second location, and provides a second sampling frequency of the sensor based upon the second location. The first sampling frequency is different from the second sampling frequency.

System and method for predictively sensing harmful environmental conditions based on location and historical user data

An information handling system includes location sensor circuitry and a processor. The location sensor circuitry determines location data for the information handling system. The processor receives a unique session tag from a cloud server. The unique session tag is utilized to identify individuals associated with an event. The processor also provides the location data for the information handling system and the unique session tag to the cloud server. The processor receives one or more proposed destination points for the event from the cloud server. The processor receives a selection of one of the proposed destination points, and provides the selected destination point to the individuals associated with the event.

An information handling system includes a first display device having a touch-sensitive surface capable of detecting a stylus. The stylus may communicate with the first display device via the touch-sensitive surface. A processor copies content from the touch-sensitive surface to a first memory of the first display device, and stores an identifier key and a public key that are both associated with the first display device to a second memory. The processor may also establish a secure communication link between the first display device and a second display device using the identifier key and the public key, and paste the content from the first memory to the second display device using the stylus.

System and method for transfer of clipboard data between display screens

An information handling system touchscreen display detects touches at a touch detection surface as inputs to the information handling system to report as inputs to an embedded controller. An embedded controller detects placement of a keyboard on the touchscreen display in a forward position and in response commands an infrared position detector to activate to detect finger movement at a virtual touchpad disposed external to the information handling system housing. A microphone disposed proximate the virtual touchpad detects end user taps as inputs and a projector disposed proximate the virtual touchpad illuminates a boundary of the virtual touchpad. When the keyboard is moved from the forward position to a rearward position, a virtual touchpad may be presented on the display and the infrared position detector may be deactivated.

Devices, computer-implemented methods, and computer-readable media for the redemption of merchant offers, such as online coupons, are provided. In some embodiments, online coupons may be provided in a native application of a mobile user device. When a user selects to use an online coupon, a coupon code box having a coupon code associated with the selected coupon may visually move from a first location to a second location of the native application, and a merchant website may be displayed in the native application. Additionally, in some embodiments, a user may drag-and-drop a coupon code box to an input field of a merchant webpage. Movement of a visual copy of the coupon code box may be animated along the drag path. Upon a drop of the coupon code box, a value of the coupon code may be entered into the input field.

The computing device may receive sensor data from one or more sensors, determine a first orientation of the computing device, and determine a first position of a user relative to the computing device. After the user places the computing device in a second orientation, the computing device may, after receiving additional sensor data, determine a second orientation of the computing device and a second position of the user. Systems and methods for enterprise branded application frameworks for mobile and other environments

In some examples, a computing device may include a first housing mechanically coupled to a second housing. The coupling may enable the first housing to be placed at an angle of between at least 0 to 180 degrees relative to the second housing. A clasp may be used to temporarily hold the first housing against the second housing when the first housing is placed at an angle of about 0 degrees relative to the second housing. A clasp sensor may determine that a user touched the clasp. In response, the computing device may initiate a boot process of an operating system. The boot process may capture biometric data using a biometric sensor in the clasp and compare the biometric data with previously stored biometric data associated with the user. The boot process may authenticate the user when the biometric data matches the previously stored biometric data.

In some examples, a computing device includes a first display device coupled to a second display device by hinges. After determining that the computing device has been moved from a first orientation to a second orientation, the computing device may receive ambient light data from ambient light sensors associated with the first and second display device, temperature data from temperature sensors associated with the first and second display device, and color data from color sensors associated with the first and second display device. After determining that power is being received from an external power source or that the user prefers the display devices may be color matched, the computing device may perform one or more color adjustments based on the ambient light data, the temperature data, and the color data, thereby reducing a difference in a perceived color between the first display device and the second display device.
