A system for cleaning a component of a machine is provided. The system includes a cleaning head having a first reel and a second reel to store a cloth. The cleaning head also includes a first idler and a second idler placed in a spaced apart arrangement. The first idler and the second idler are configured to receive the cloth from the first reel. The second reel is configured to store the cloth received from the first idler and the second idler. A spray nozzle is provided to spray a cleaning agent on to the cloth. A robotic arm is attached to the cleaning head. A controller is configured to position the cleaning head relative to the component, activate a movement of the first reel and the second reel to effectuate a dry cleaning cycle, and selectively activate the spray nozzle to effectuate a wet cleaning cycle.

Robotic cleaning system

A line splicing machine comprised of an elongate tubular fid, a removable tip and wire snare slidably disposed within the fid are disclosed. The tip has a shank which nests in the fid's forward end, the shank having a slot for receipt of the wire snare. The wire snare is biased in a rearward direction to hold either the tip, or the end of a line to be spliced, against the fid's forward end. In one embodiment, the mechanism for biasing the wire snare rearward comprises a spring-biased, over-center flop handle. In another, the biasing mechanism is a pivoting arm having a sliding collar thereon, the collar inhibiting the arm's motion when settled against a toothed protrusion. An embodiment with interchangeable sized fids, and a fid adaptor sleeve having a conical end and a concave end for increasing the size of line able to be spliced with a given fid size, are also disclosed.

A simplified paint roller cleaning apparatus is provided wherein an existing paint roller spinner is utilized to insert a paint roller into a container of paint solvent where it is temporarily supported at the bottom against an idler roller. The idler roller spindle extends through a slot in the top of the container and a handle on the spindle permits the idler roller and spinner to be compressed together as the spinner is actuated, causing the rollers to rotate together to clean the paint roller. Then the solvent is poured out, the idler roller is tipped aside and the paint roller is dry-spun in the container to expel excess moisture.

A double braided line comprises a core covered by a sheath and a fid comprises an elongated flexible handle having a pointed end and a hooked end. After the size of the eye is established, a predetermined length of the core is pulled out of the sheath through an opening formed in the sheath and a knot is tied in the free end of the core. The hook of the fid is hooked around the knot and the end of the core is whipped to the fid. The fid and attached end of the core are snaked through the empty portion of the sheath back out the opening. The fid is removed from the end of the core and the hook attached to the end of the sheath with whipping, as before. The fid and attached end of the sheath are then pulled through the exposed portion of the core for a certain distance and the fid is removed from the end of the sheath. The core and sheath are thereafter alternately pulled to tighten the crossover of the core and sheath and bury the same in the sheath to complete the splice.

The invention is an angularly adjustable paint roller assembly which attaches to the end of an extension pole and is characterized by an adjustable elbow brace which provides supplemental support to the adjusting pivot and establishes a position of maximum adjustment of on the order of 80.degree. for the roller which defines an optimal angle for certain applications of the roller assembly and another position is struck by forwardly thrusting the pivot point of the elbow brace, establishing a roller angle of about 45.degree. to the handle, so that in addition to being continually adjustable from 0.degree. to 80.degree. three distinct angles, including straight, may be quickly and accurately established.
