Disclosed herein is an electric aircraft and a method for preventing a propulsor from contacting a ground surface of the electric aircraft. Electric aircraft includes a tail skid. The tail skid may include two portions. The tail skid may be configured to accommodate angles of approach for various takeoff and landing methods. Tail skid may be configured to prevent a propulsor from contacting the ground surface.

Electric aircraft with a tail skid and method of use

A system for rapid securement and disengagement of a battery assembly-type power source element is provided herein. The system can include a battery assembly that includes a battery element having opposite, opposing surfaces and configured to provide power to at least a portion of a vehicle. On the surface of the battery assembly a pin element can be disposed. The system also includes a receiver assembly configured to mechanically couple the battery assembly. The receiver assembly can include an insertion opening having a size configured to receive the battery assembly and a hook assembly. The hook assembly can include a hook configured to mechanically couple to the pin element of the battery assembly and shaft configured to drive the hook such that a distance between the insertion opening and the battery assembly is changed.

System and method for securing battery in aircraft

A support frame for releasably attaching a facemask to a goggle including at least one vent and its method of use are described. In one non-limiting embodiment, the support frame includes a nose bridge and two legs extending from the nose bridge. The nose bridge and the two legs are adapted and arranged to releasably attach the facemask to a bottom surface of the goggles. The nose bridge and two legs are arranged such that the at least one vent is unobstructed when the facemask is attached to the goggles by the support frame.

A highback for controlling a gliding board, such as a snowboard, through leg movement of a rider. The highback is comprised of an upright support member including at least two portions that are to be contacted by and to support a rear portion of the rider's leg and that are movable relative to each other for setting a desired forward lean of the highback. The support member may include a lower portion with a pair of mounting locations for mounting the highback to a gliding board component, such as a snowboard binding, and an upper portion movably supported by the lower portion to vary the forward lean of the highback. The lower portion of the support member may be mounted to a snowboard binding baseplate for lateral rotation between a plurality of lateral positions. The highback may include a forward lean adjuster that prevents the upper portion from moving in the heel direction beyond a predetermined forward lean position. The forward lean adjuster may be coupled to the upper portion and the lower portion of the highback to maintain the upper portion in the selected forward lean position independent of the gliding board component. A locking arrangement may also be provided to lock the highback in an upright riding position to prevent toe-edge travel relative to the board for enhanced board response.

A snowboard binding for securing a boot to a snowboard includes a base that is mounted on the snowboard. The base includes a base plate and a pair of side rails that extend upwardly from the base plate along lateral sides of the base plate. The snowboard binding further includes a high-back support secured to the pair of side rails. The high-back support is fabricated from a single piece of material and has a hinge formed therein to adjust a forward lean position of the high-back support. Additional design features and methods are disclosed herein.

Snowboard binding and related methods

A highback for controlling a gliding board, such as a snowboard, through leg movement of a rider. The highback is comprised of at least two distinct materials with different stiffnesses to achieve a desired blend of stiffness and flexibility. The highback may employ a material of greater stiffness in one or more regions to provide high force transmission between the rider and the board. The highback may employ a material of lesser stiffness in one or more regions where flexibility is desired for more gradual power transmission, comfort and/or to facilitate highback adjustability. The arrangement of the different materials provides a lightweight highback with a relatively sleek profile having selected regions of stiffness and/or flexibility.

Highback formed of multiple materials

A snowboard binding mechanism for securing a snowboard boot to a snowboard includes at least one moveable engagement member having an open position and at least one closed position. When in the closed position, the engagement member is biased toward the open position. As a result, when a snowboard boot is not disposed in the binding mechanism, the binding mechanism automatically moves to the open position. The engagement member may also function to compensate for snow, ice or debris accumulated beneath the boot. A single handle may be operatively connected to the engagement members to facilitate ease of removal of the snowboard boot from the binding by simply requiring actuation of the single handle to unlock the binding. A separate foot pedal may be operably coupled to the engagement member and is also employed to unlock the binding. The binding mechanism may also include a cocking feature that unlocks the binding mechanism without also causing the engagement members to move to open positions. A non-metallic heel hoop may be adjustably mounted to the base of a binding for movement in a forward and rearward direction relative to the base. The heel hoop is mounted at a location on the base such that no portion of the heel hoop extends forward of the engagement member. The heel hoop may also include a base portion that is adapted to at least partially underlie the sole of the boot when the boot is held within the binding.

Snowboard binding

One embodiment is directed to a snowboard binding including a base having a toe end and a heel end, and a guide that is adapted to guide a snowboard boot back toward the heel end of the base when the snowboard boot is stepped into the binding. Another embodiment is directed to a snowboard; binding including a baseplate and a heel hoop hinged for rotation relative to the baseplate. A further embodiment is directed a snowboard binding to mount a snowboard boot to a snowboard, the snowboard boot including at least one pin extending from medial and lateral sides thereof. The snowboard binding comprises a base having medial and lateral sides; a pair of engagement cams each mounted to one of the medial and lateral sides for rotation between open and closed positions; at least one lever to move the pair of engagement cams from the closed position to the open position; and a cocking mechanism that is adapted to maintain the pair of engagement cams in the open position upon release of the at least one lever.

The forward lean adjuster may be coupled to the upper portion and the lower portion of the highback to maintain the upper portion in the selected forward lean position independent of the gliding board component. A ride/relax feature may be provided to allow a rider to place the highback in either a ride mode in which the highback is fixed in the preselected forward lean position or a relax mode in which the highback is unrestrained so that leg movement is permitted in the heel direction beyond the forward lean position. A locking arrangement may also be provided to lock the highback in an upright riding position to prevent toe-edge travel relative to the board for enhanced board response.

A system for tool free disengagement of an engagement member from a base while the base is mounted to a substrate, so that the engagement member may be repositioned, tool free, in a new mounting location. The engagement member and the base include complementary locking members, and the engagement member may be constructed so that manipulation of the engagement member releases the complementary locking members allowing relocation of the engagement member in a new mounting location. The system may be incorporated in a binding for securing a foot or a boot and in footwear.

Tool free system for adjusting the mounting location of an engagement member

A method and apparatus for adjusting a position of a pad on a binding base. A pad can be adjusted to any one of an infinite number of positions relative to a binding base and/or without the use of tools. Adjustment can be provided by a drive mechanism, or by a locking device mounted to the pad that engages with the base.
