A process for the preparation of dialkylpentaerythritol diphosphites which are not contaminated by the presence of phenol. The process utilizes dichloropentaerythritol diphosphite as a starting material and since it does not contain a phenyl group there is no possibility of phenol being formed as a contaminant. Furthermore, the product obtained in this fashion is characterized by an enhanced hydrolytic stability.

Process for the preparation of phenol-free phosphites

A process for the conversion of an alkyl phenyl ether to the corresponding alkylphenol, involving heating in the presence of a dehydrated sulfonic acid type cation exchange resin having a macroreticular structure. The process has particular application to the recovery of unreacted alkylphenol from a product mixture resulting from a reaction in which the alkylphenol is used (in stoichiometrically excessive amounts) as a reactant.

Conversion of alkyl phenyl ether to alkylphenol

A catalytically active composition for use in electroless plating, which is prepared without the use of acid by reacting an aqueous halide solution (chloride or bromide) of a palladium salt with a compatible tin salt. The tin salt can be molten or in the form of an aqueous solution containing water in an amount which is insufficient to cause precipitation of the tin. The final concentrated product may be used to prepare working bath solutions for electroless plating by dilution with an appropriate acid solution; but the concentrate itself contains essentially no free acid and may be either a liquid or a solid material, depending on process conditions.
