An in-line loss-on-ignition measurement system includes an on-site extractor subsystem configured to collect fuel or a combustion by-product from a hydrocarbon fuel burning plant. An on-site analyzer is configured to receive the collected matter from the extractor subsystem and configured to weigh the collected matter, burn the collected matter, and weight the collected matter again. A controller is responsive to the analyzer and is configured to determine the loss-on-ignition data for the plant based on the weight of the collected matter before and after it is burned in the analyzer.

In-line loss-on-ignition measurement system and method

An electrokinetic delivery system for personal use in self-administration of a medicament to a treatment site on an individual includes a device shaped to conform with the shape of a portion of an individual's finger from a tip thereof to a location past the first finger joint. A self-contained power source is carried by the device and a first electrode is carried by the device adjacent a distal end portion thereof and the tip of the individual's finger. The first electrode is in electrical contact with the power source. A second electrode is carried by the device for contact with the individual's finger. The second electrode is in electrical contact with the power source. Upon application of the first electrode over a treatment site with the medicament disposed between the first electrode and the treatment site and completion of an electrical circuit through the individual's body and said electrode, the device applies current for electrokinetically driving the medicament into the treatment site.

Electrokinetic delivery system for self-administration of medicaments and methods therefor

A method for delivering a substance to an infected nail of an individual is described. The method includes the step of applying a device to at least one infected nail of an individual, where the device includes at least one active electrode and at least one counter electrode, where the at least one counter electrode is in contact with the individual, and where the device is connected to at least one power source. The method also includes the steps of disposing a medicament between the at least one active electrode and the at least one infected nail, applying a salt solution to the at least one infected nail, and providing an electrical current from the power source to the at least one active electrode to facilitate delivery of the medicament into the region of the at least one infected nail.

Methods and systems for electrokinetic delivery of a substance

A system for delivering a substance into a body at a treatment site that includes an alternating current source and a plurality of electrodes. Circuitry is connected between the alternating current source and the electrodes for supplying current to the electrodes when the electrodes are in electrical contact with said body so that a uni-directional current flow for delivering the substance into the body is maintained at the treatment site and a bi-directional current flow is maintained throughout the body. At least one of the electrodes is divided into sub-electrodes to, for example, reduce hazards associated with current concentration. These and other systems and methods are adaptable for large treatment areas and/or use a convenient and low-cost arrangement of electronics.

Systems and methods for electrokinetic delivery of a substance

A guide and other tools for cutting a bone graft from, e.g., the patella. The guide includes a guiding portion configured to engage a bone cutting instrument (such as a saw with a curved cutting surface), and a bone-engaging portion insertable into a cut in the surface of the bone to position the guiding portion in a selected orientation with respect to the bone. During use, the guiding portion directs the bone cutting instrument to cut the graft in the selected orientation. One of the other tools used with the guide is a spacer which has a bone-engageable portion insertable into the cut in the bone surface, and a surface arranged with respect to the bone-engageable portion and configured to guide a saw in making a second cut in the bone surface parallel to the first-mentioned cut. The guide includes a housing that supports the guiding portion, and arms secured to the housing and on which the bone-engaging portions of the guide are disposed. Another one of the tools used with the guide is a clamp which clamps the guide housing to the bone.
