The disclosed system uses seismic signaling to locate survivors in a mine collapse. A separate transmitter with a specific pre-selected frequency or frequencies is placed in pre-positioned safety zones of a mine. The system generates frequency-locked, unmodulated seismic energy, which allows rescuers to identify the safety zone where a transmitter is activated. The transmitter comprises an oscillator that generates the signal. The oscillator drives the transducer. The transducer causes the inertial mass to move. The movement of the inertial mass generates the seismic waves, which are conducted through the pressure plate to the earth. The seismic signal is detected then amplified, filtered, converted and then processed. The use of a continuous signal enables the processing unit to identify the frequency of the signal with a very low error rate, using frequency content identification. The disclosure also describes a method for transmitting seismic waves through the earth using the above described system.

System for communicating location of survivors in mine emergencies

An autonomous robotic system and method for removing pests from a specific location. The robotic system of the invention preferably comprises a means for attracting pests to at least one specific location; and a robotic means for collecting and/or exterminating pests attracted to the specified location. In certain embodiments, the robotic means comprises a mobile robot and a means for navigating the robotic means. In operation, pests are attracted to at least one location by an attracting means, and these pests are then collected and/or exterminated by a mobile, autonomous robot of the invention.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a method and apparatus for accurate positioning of a dual balloon catheter. In one embodiment of the present invention, a first balloon provides an anchoring point. In one embodiment, the first balloon has protrusions to help secure its position. In one embodiment, once the first balloon is inflated, it provides a fixed position relative to which a second balloon is accurately positioned in the treatment region. In another embodiment, a second balloon imparts a radial force. In another embodiment, a second balloon imparts an axial force, using the first balloon as an anchor against which the force is applied. The force may be applied in a forward or a backward direction. In yet another embodiment, a second balloon imparts a rotational force, using the first balloon as an anchor against which the force is applied.

Method and apparatus for accurate positioning of a dual balloon catheter

A method of matching a vehicle with a vacant parking space in a parking facility having numerous parking spaces. The method includes storing identifying characteristics of each of the parking spaces in a database. To request a parking space, a garage customer inputs data concerning his or her preferences for parking. The inventive method then determines which of the plurality of parking spaces are vacant, matches the data inputted by the user with the data identifying characteristics of each of the parking spaces determined to be vacant, and determines which of the parking spaces determined to be vacant most closely matches the data inputted by the user. The closest parking space is reserved for parking by the user.

Parking guidance method and system

An illuminating fishing lure having a lure body with a first lure end and second lure end. A light source positioned the lure body and a hook, having a base and a barb, is connected to and extends from the first lure end, wherein the base is electrically connected to the light source. A guard having a first guard end and a second guard end extends from and is connected to a side of the lure body at a first guard end thereof. The guard has a length substantially equal to the hook to allow contact of the second guard end with the barb. The lure further includes a power source having a negative charge end and positive charge end. The positive charge end is connected to the light source and the negative charge end is connected to the first guard end. Upon connection thereof the light source is illuminated.
