A device for securing USB or Firewire port interconnections includes a microcontroller comprising a processor; a first connector/lead in communication with the microcontroller and configured to be coupled with a USB or Firewire external device; and a second connector/lead in communication with the microcontroller and configured to be coupled with a protected host. An optional user interface communicates with the microcontroller. When the microcontroller detects that the external device is coupled to the first connector/lead, the processor is configured to display a prompt on the user interface for a user to initiate inputs prior to the external device being allowed to connect with the protected host; or is configured to automatically prevent the external device from being connected with the protected host if the external device is on a blacklist of devices known to have device handlers in the protected host at a BIOS level, without modifying the protected host.

A vehicle wireless connection system, the system comprising: at least one portable computing device (PCD), wherein the PCD includes: at least one camera, wherein the camera is configured to capture an image of a vehicle indicator on a vehicle to capture a vehicle indicator image; at least one memory including a certification data file having one or more authorization certificates; at least one PCD processor configured to receive the vehicle indicator image and execute a sign-on application, wherein the sign-on application is further configured to: compare the vehicle indicator image with one or more stored images; when the vehicle indicator image is the same as one of the one or more stored images, direct the PCD to connect to the vehicle; and when the authorization certificates are determined valid, connect the PCD to the vehicle at a wireless access point to provide access to some or all vehicle information.

Systems and methods for embedding a warning signal in a sensor pulse. When a taxi anticollision system of a host aircraft senses a threat headed for the aircraft, a warning signal is embedded in a sensor pulse to warn the offending vehicle that it is in the field of view of the host aircraft's sensor and is moving on a trajectory that is threatening collision with the host aircraft. Alternately, the radar issues a dedicated pulse for reading and alerting the receiving device.

Systems and methods for performing vehicle collision-avoidance warning via sensor pulse

A system and method for ground-to-air communications with an aircraft are provided. The system comprises a ground-to-air communications manager that is configured to analyze incoming data from one or more data sources to determine at least a location and flight mode of an aircraft; and assess outgoing data to be sent to the aircraft based on one or more characteristics of the outgoing data, the location and flight mode of the aircraft, and one or more datalink characteristics. The ground-to-air communications manager selects an outgoing datalink and timing of transmit for the outgoing data according to a best result, which is determined from balancing the one or more characteristics of the outgoing data, the location and flight mode of the aircraft, and the one or more datalink characteristics. The ground-to-air communications manager transmits the outgoing data to the aircraft over the selected outgoing datalink at the selected timing of transmit.

In at least one embodiment, an avionics server comprises a plurality of device ports, wherein each of the plurality of device ports is coupled to a respective one of a plurality of device network interface cards and dedicated to a respective one of a plurality of avionics domains which corresponds to the respective device network interface card. Further, at least one processing device is configured to identify one or more signals from a respective user received at one or more of the plurality of device ports and to verify whether the user has access to the respective avionics domains that are dedicated to the one or more device ports over which the one or more signals are received.

Security architecture for the connected aircraft

A device for secure transmission of vehicle data over vehicle datalinks that may be shared with passenger devices and are connected to a publicly shared network is provided. The device comprises a processor embedded within a portion of an Ethernet cable for a vehicle. A plurality of applications resides in the processor and comprises a VPN application, and a VPN address and certificate update application. A first Ethernet transceiver communicates with the processor through the VPN application and also communicates with onboard electronic equipment. A second Ethernet transceiver communicates with the processor through the VPN application and also communicates with an external datalink. The VPN application automatically establishes a VPN when the datalink is available, provides an authentication certificate to verify that the device is a correct and legitimate node, and verifies a VPN hosting certification to determine whether the device is communicating with a correct and legitimate external facility.

Systems and methods for aiding in pilot awareness of obstacles relative to aircraft features. An exemplary processor receives sensor information from one or more sensors mounted in an aircraft feature (e.g. light modules), determines if at least one obstacle is located within a predefined field of view based on the received sensor or database information and generates an image. The image includes an ownship icon having at least one feature representing wingtips of the aircraft and at least one indicator associated with the determined at least one obstacle. A display device presents the generated image. The display device presents a tip of a first sense coverage area adjacent to one wingtip feature associated with the port wing and a tip of the second sense coverage area adjacent to one wingtip feature associated with the starboard wing. The indicator is presented within at least one of the coverage areas.

Systems and methods for displaying obstacle-avoidance information during surface operations

Systems and methods for creating a narrow vertical pathway of detection that permits the enforcement of a fixed 'exclusion zone' that is narrow and does not widen with range. An advantage to this approach is that the zone or corridor does not widen with range, permitting a fixed exclusion zone that will ignore items that will pass above or below the wing. An exemplary system located on a vehicle includes at least two vertically separated antennas that receive radar reflection signals, a processor, and an output device. The processor receives the radar reflection signals received by the antennas, determines vertical position of any obstacles identified in the radar reflection signals and determines if the obstacles are within a predefined alert zone. The output device outputs an alert if any obstacle is within the alert zone. The predefined alert zone is related to a protruding portion of the vehicle.

Systems and methods for performing wingtip protection

Systems and methods for performing airport surface collision-avoidance. A wingtip-mounted camera allows the pilot to positively ascertain that the wingtip will clear objects located in the video. An exemplary system implemented on an aircraft includes a wingtip module having a camera that generates a video stream and a communication device that transmits the generated video stream. A processor receives the video stream and generates a reticule for the video stream. A display device simultaneously presents the video stream and the reticule. The reticule includes a horizon line and is based on a focal length of a lens of the camera and height of the camera above ground. The reticule includes curved and/or straight distance lines and curved or straight travel lines. The travel line(s) correspond to at least one aircraft component or a zone of importance and are based on location of the camera and trajectory of the aircraft.

Airport surface collision-avoidance system (ASCAS)

Systems and methods communicate sensor data pertaining to detected weather between aircraft. An exemplary system has at least one sensor on a transmitting aircraft, wherein the sensor is configured to detect weather and configured to output sensor data. The system has a first transceiver on the transmitting aircraft that is configured to transmit a signal with the sensor data. And the system has a second transceiver on a receiving aircraft that is configured to receive the signal containing the sensor data transmitted by the first transceiver. The sensor data of the transmitting aircraft is fused with sensor data of the receiving aircraft for a geographic region of interest to extend the effective sensor coverage and to resolve at least one of a location conflict and a severity conflict between the sensor data of the transmitting aircraft and the receiving aircraft.

Systems and methods for generation of comprehensive airspace weather condition display from shared aircraft sensor data

One embodiment is directed to a method for managing cryptographic information. The method includes initiating cryptographic information loading application on a general purpose mobile device (GPMD) and establishing a connection between the GPMD and a server that includes cryptographic information. Authentication input is received from a user of the GPMD. Data identifying the GPMD and the authentication input is sent from the GPMD to the server for authentication of the GPMD and the user. The GPMD also sends data identifying an electronic device into which cryptographic information is to be loaded. In response, the GPMD receives cryptographic information for the electronic device at the GPMD from the server. The GPMD then sends the cryptographic information from the GPMD to the electronic device for loading therein.

Secure key distribution with general purpose mobile device

A system comprises a plurality of fixed cameras that each having a field of regard. Each point within an area of interest is covered by the field of regard of at least two of the cameras. Each camera captures an image of its field of regard and a plurality of calibration points within the area of interest. A processor calibrates the imaging system by at least associating the coordinates of each of the plurality of calibration points with a calibration pixel corresponding to an image of the calibration point in the image of each of the cameras. The processor geolocates the object of interest within the area of interest by at least comparing the location an image of the object of interest to the calibration pixels in the images generated by each of the plurality of cameras.

Geolocating objects of interest in an area of interest with an imaging system

Systems and methods communicate sensor data pertaining to detected weather between aircraft. An exemplary system has at least one sensor on a transmitting aircraft that is configured to detect weather and configured to output sensor data, and a transceiver that is configured to receive a query from a requesting aircraft for the sensor data and that is configured to transmit a signal with the sensor data for receipt by the requesting aircraft in response to receiving the query. Upon receipt by the requesting aircraft, the received sensor data of the transmitting aircraft may then be fused with sensor data of the requesting aircraft for a geographic region of interest to extend the effective sensor coverage and to resolve at least one of a location conflict and a severity conflict between the sensor data of the transmitting aircraft and the requesting aircraft.
