A client station including a communication circuit to communicate, via an infrastructure mode, with an access point in a basic service set; identify, based on signals transmitted by the access point, a plurality of client stations in the basic service set capable of communicating via a direct link setup mode; and during a predetermined time period, communicate, via the direct link setup mode, with the plurality of client stations; and a control circuit to, during the predetermined time period, determine strength of signals received from the plurality of client stations via the direct link setup mode, determine highest supportable data rates for communicating with the plurality of client stations via the direct link setup mode, and select, based on (i) the strength of the signals and (ii) the highest supportable data rates, one or more of the plurality of client stations for communicating via the direct link setup mode.

Direct link setup mechanisms for wireless LANs

A wireless network device includes a wireless network port, first and second virtual machines, and a processor. While executing the first virtual machine, the processor stores, in a third queue, data to be processed by the first virtual machine and the first virtual machine maintains, in a first queue, a copy of the data stored in the third queue. While executing the second virtual machine, the processor stores, in the third queue, data to be processed by the second virtual machine and the second virtual machine maintains, in a second queue, a copy of the data stored in the third queue. Upon resuming execution, the first virtual machine transfers, to the third queue, the copy of the data maintained in the first queue. Upon resuming execution, the second virtual machine transfers, to the third queue, the copy of the data maintained in the second queue.

Method and apparatus for concurrently maintaining queues for multiple virtual machines

In one aspect, a wireless station includes a transmitter to wirelessly transmit discovery packets to a proximately located network device, a receiver to wirelessly receive an input from the proximately located network device, an engine to manage a configuration of the network device, and a power selector to control a power level output by the transmitter, enable transmission at a first power during configuration of the proximately located network device, and enable transmission at a second power after configuration of the proximately located network device, wherein the first power is different than the second power, and the first power helps prevent snooping during the configuration.

Configuration of a network device

Techniques and systems for associating a client with an access point using a security protocol are described. A described technique includes initiating an association request; establishing an association between a first device and a second device different from the first device based on the association request; participating in a handshake including exchanging an operational key between the first device and the second device during the handshake; and entering an operational phase using the operational key when the handshake is successful. Participating in the handshake can include participating in an authenticated handshake when the association request indicates an authenticated access, and participating in an unauthenticated handshake when the association request indicates an unauthenticated access.

Enhanced association for access points

A system to wirelessly communicate with a wireless network. The system includes a memory and a processor. The memory is configured to store a first queue, a second queue, and a processor queue. The processor is configured to: selectively execute a first virtual machine using the processor queue; while executing the first virtual machine, maintain the first queue as a copy of data in the processor queue; selectively execute a second virtual machine using the processor queue; and while executing the second virtual machine, maintain the second queue as a copy of data in the processor queue.

All-in-one wireless network device

Apparatus having corresponding methods and computer programs comprise a communication circuit to establish an infrastructure mode wireless connection with a wireless client through a wireless access point, and to establish a direct link setup (DLS) mode wireless connection with the wireless client; and a control circuit to select either infrastructure mode or DLS mode for communication with the wireless client based on at least one characteristic of the infrastructure mode and DLS mode wireless connections; wherein the communication circuit exchanges frames of data with the wireless client using the selected mode.

Systems and methods are provided for automatically setting up an initial configuration of a wireless repeater and managing one or more wireless repeaters in a wireless local area network.

Repeater configuration and management

The invention relates to a method for associating a client with an access point using a security protocol. The method may include initiating a handshake and exchanging operational information between the access point and the client, establishing an encrypted operational key if the operational information is validated and entering an operational phase using the operational key and an unique service set identifier if valid.

A method, apparatus, and computer-readable media for a wireless network device for communicating with a network comprises a memory to store an image comprising a plurality of virtual machines and only one multi-tasking operating system, wherein each of the virtual machines comprises a wireless network application to execute on the multi-tasking operating system; a processor to execute the virtual machines; and a port comprising a physical-layer device to communicate with the network, and a media access controller to communicate with the physical-layer device and the processor.

Systems and methods are provided for automatically setting up an initial configuration of a wireless client (i.e., for a first wireless client and subsequent wireless clients added to a network), including keyboard-less and (graphical user interface) GUI-less clients, and an access point without using confusing manual configuration utilities.

Access point configuration

An exemplary method for simulating the effect of mismatch in design flows comprises receiving measured data, receiving an original model, extracting a mismatch model based on the measured data and the original model, attaching the mismatch model to the netlist to obtain a modified netlist, and simulating an effect of mismatch based on the modified netlist. In one embodiment, the extracting of a mismatch model includes selecting a set of model parameters, generating a distribution of mismatch values for each of the model parameters, extracting a set of linking coefficients based on said mismatch values, and extracting said mismatch model based on said set of linking coefficients. In another embodiment, the attaching of the mismatch model to the netlist includes determining a number of layers in the netlist, generating a copy of a lower layer in the netlist, the copy including a reference to a mismatch model definition, generating a copy of a higher layer in the netlist, replacing a reference to the lower layer in the higher layer by a reference to the copy of the lower layer, and generating a new model definition.
