A method performed by a computing system comprises accessing group subscription data that is associated with a user and identifies a plurality of different groups, each group being hosted by a corresponding client system. The group subscription data indicates that the user is subscribed to receive resource updates from the plurality of different groups. An aggregated set of resource updates is generated by aggregating resource updates associated with resources in the plurality of different groups. An integrated view renders the aggregated set of resource updates and includes an action user input mechanism representing a computing action to be performed in a corresponding one of the groups associated with at least one resource update. Based on user actuation of the action user input mechanism, a machine instruction instructs the client system, that hosts the corresponding group, to perform the computing action.

Integration of client system groups

Network services may include data associated with one or more entities. An aggregator service may host respective application programming interfaces (APIs) of the services at a single endpoint of the network such that the entities, including associations and relationships between entities, may be federated. For example, the services may register the entities of which the data of each of the services is associated with through a declarative entity model to establish an API schema for each of the services, which may be published at the aggregator service. In response to receipt of a request for entity related data from a client, the aggregator service may employ the declarative entity model to determine which of the services are associated with the entity related data such that a query may be submitted to the services, and how to aggregate responses to the query received from the services for transmission to the client.

Aggregation and federation of distributed service entities and associations

Systems, methods, and software are disclosed herein for implementing enhanced search environments. In one implementation, an enhanced service environment includes a working set service that receives event signals initiated by working set agents in various application services. The working set agents communicate the event signals to nominate events occurring in the application services for inclusion in a working set of information specific to a user. The nominations may be based at least in part on a working set model specific to the user. In response to receiving the event signals, the working set service determines which of the events qualify for inclusion in the working set of information based at least in part on the working set model. For each event that qualifies for inclusion, the working set is modified to include at least the event.

Enhanced service environments with user-specific working sets

Techniques to track resource usage statistics per transaction across multiple layers of protocols and across multiple threads, processes and/or devices are disclosed. In one embodiment, for example, a technique may comprise assigning an activity context to a request at the beginning of a first stage, where the activity context has an initial set of properties. The values of the properties may be assigned to the properties in the initial set during the first stage. The value of a property may be stored on a data store local to the first stage. The activity context may be transferred to a second stage when the request begins the second stage. The transferred activity context may include a property from the initial set of properties. The stored values may be analyzed to determine a resource usage statistic. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Techniques for tracking resource usage statistics per transaction across multiple layers of protocols

A user interface provides mechanisms for a user to select resources from a plurality of different groups, across clients. Updates from all of the selected resources are aggregated and displayed to the user, across clients, in an integrated view.

Cross-client integration of groups

User insights derived from communication data may be provided. Communications associated with a user may be collected and analyzed to derive insights about the user. The insight may then be provided to the user, such as for modifying an application functionality, creating a message processing rule, providing new information to the user, and updating an application display or user interface.

Data mining electronic communications

High availability architecture that employs a mid-tier proxy server to route client communications to active data store instances in response to failover and switchover. The proxy server includes an active manager client that interfaces to an active manager in each of the backend servers. State information and configuration information are maintained separately and according to semantics consistent with needs of corresponding data, the configuration information changing less frequently and more available, the state information changing more frequently and less available. The active manager indicates to the proxy server which of the data storage instances is the currently the active instance. In the event that the currently active instance is inactive, the proxy server selects a different backend server that currently hosts the active data store instance. Client communications are then routed to the different backend server with minimal or no interruption to the client.

Adding individual database failover/switchover to an existing storage component with limited impact

A data replication mechanism is proposed that relies on existing federation infrastructure enabling distributed authentication instead of storing and using explicit credentials for a remote forest. The data replication mechanism requests a federation token with data replication capabilities targeted to the remote forest and passes this token to the remote forest in lieu of explicit credentials.

Federated authentication for mailbox replication

Triaging electronic communications in a computing system environment can mitigate issues related to large volumes of incoming electronic communications. This can include an analysis of user-specific electronic communication data and associated behaviors to predict which communications a user is likely to deem important or unimportant. Client-side application features are exposed based on the evaluation of communication importance to enable the user to process arbitrarily large volumes of incoming communications.

Electronic communications triage using recipient's historical behavioral and feedback

Optimizations for data transmission may be provided. A portion of a data block may be read into a batch by a read thread on a first server. The batch may be passed to a transmission thread. The transmission thread may then transmit the first batch to a second server while the read thread asynchronously reads a second portion of the data block into another batch.

Massive structured data transfer optimizations for high-latency, low-reliability networks

A method is presented for generating a list of frequently used words for an email application on a server computer. When a request is received for a word frequency list for emails stored in a user's mailbox, a word frequency list is returned if one exists. If the word frequency list does not exist, an asynchronous process is started on the server computer to generate a word frequency list. If the word frequency list exists but it is older than an aging limit, an asynchronous process is started on the server computer to regenerate the word frequency list. The word frequency list is stored in the user's mailbox along with a timestamp indicating the date and time that the list was created or updated.

Using message sampling to determine the most frequent words in a user mailbox

A data resiliency layer provides manageable data resiliency policy options for email related applications. Through one or more APIs such applications are enabled to query whether a data resiliency policy is satisfied for a given mailbox or database at a given point in time. Email related applications may consume this information to modify their behavior such as to wait, repeat, or fail the actions at hand to the point where data committal is guaranteed to a degree specified by the data resiliency policy.
