A turbine component surface treatment process includes passing a UV-curable maskant through one or more fluid flow passages, wherein at least a portion of the UV-curable maskant exits the one or more fluid flow passages at an exterior surface of the turbine component, applying a UV light to the exterior surface of the turbine component, wherein the UV light cures at least a portion of the UV-curable maskant exiting the one or more fluid flow passages, and, treating the exterior surface with a treatment material, wherein the portion of the UV-curable maskant cured by the UV light substantially blocks the treatment material from entering the one or more fluid flow passages.

Turbine component surface treatment processes and systems

A method for dimensionally inspecting a component of a gas turbine system is provided. The method includes disposing the component on a fixture for stabilizing the component. Also included is probing a first datum location of the component with a coordinate measurement machine for establishing a first datum point. Further included is probing at least one location of the component with the coordinate measurement machine to determine at least one measurement relative to the first datum point. Yet further included is displaying the at least one measurement in an output report.

A system for qualifying usability risk associated with subsurface defects in a multilayer coating includes a component having a multilayer coating, an infrared detection device for capturing infrared images of the multilayered coating and a processing unit that is in electronic communication with the infrared detection device where the processing unit generates a subsurface defect map of the multilayer coating based on the infrared images. The system further includes a risk map of the component.
