A blend composition comprising a first polyester and a second polyester. The first and second polyesters each comprises residues of terephthalic acid, neopentyl glycol (NPG), 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM), ethylene glycol (EG), and/or diethylene glycol (DEG). The first polyester comprises NPG, CHDM, and DEG in a combined amount that is less than the second polyester. The blend composition can be useful for producing a shrink film exhibiting high ultimate shrinkage (e.g., >65% at 95° C. for 10 seconds) and a high strain induced crystalline melting point (e.g., greater than 190° C.).

An oriented film or a shrink film comprising a polyester composition which comprises at least one polyester which comprises: a dicarboxylic acid component comprising: about 90 to about 100 mole % of terephthalic acid residues; about 0 to about 10 mole % of aromatic and/or aliphatic dicarboxylic acid residues having up to 20 carbon atoms; and a glycol component comprising: about 10 to about 29 mole % 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol residues; and about 71 to about 90 mole % ethylene glycol residues; and optionally, diethylene glycol residues; wherein the total mole % of the dicarboxylic acid component is 100 mole %, and wherein the total mole % of the glycol component is 100 mole %; wherein the inherent viscosity of the polyester is from 0.50 to 0.8 dL/g.

Tough shrinkable films

A solid concentrate is provided having a combination of a transition metal present in an amount ranging from 1000 to 40,000 ppm (weight by metal) and a polyester polymer present in an amount of at least 40 wt. % based on the weight of the concentrate. Concentrates made with highly modified polyester polymers are easy to compound with transition metals forming less brittle polymer upon melt extrusion. Bottle preforms and oxygen scavenging bottles can be made from these concentrates by combining solid polyester particles, solid polyamide particles, and solid these concentrate particles c into an melt processing zone, forming a melt, and forming an article directly from the melt. The b* color and the L* color and the haze levels of the preforms are improved over the preforms made with liquid carriers instead of solid concentrates. The particles are also advantageously simultaneously dried in a drying zone under conditions effective to at least partially remove moisture from the blend to thereby further improve the b* color and L* color.

There is described an ultraviolet protected multi-layer structure comprising a layer produced from a copolyester/polycarbonate blend, and a protective UV absorbing compound-containing polycarbonate cap layer. There is described a novel blend composition comprising specified amounts of any polycarbonate and specified amounts of a specific copolyester comprising terephthalic acid, naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid, or mixtures thereof; isophthalic acid; and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol. Also described are films and sheets produced from the novel blend compositions that are thermoformable without having to pre-dry the films and sheets. Further, articles of manufacture produced from the novel blend compositions are described.

Blends of polycarbonate and polyester and sheets and films formed therefrom

Disclosed is a method of providing a thin copolyester coating on paper wherein the coating has good peel strength which comprises extruding a film of copolyester onto paper to form a coated sheet and passing the paper through a nip formed by a pair of cooperating chill and pressure rolls, wherein the copolyester consists essentially of repeat units from terephthalic acid, ethylene glycol, about 1.5-20 mol % of an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic glycol having 2 to 10 carbon atoms, and 0 to about 1.0 mol % of a polyfunctional branching agent. Also disclosed is the coated paper prepared by this method.
