Systems and methods related to unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launch/landing platforms for tethered UAV flights are provided. A system includes a container configured to store a UAV includes a housing and one or more doors and a tether passthrough system configured to provide a tether pathway for a tether from an interior of the housing to the UAV through the at least one door during a tethered UAV flight. The tether passthrough system includes a tether guide configured to move between a first position facilitating storage of the UAV and a second position fitting securely within an opening of at least one door. A plug or cover may be adapted to close the opening when the doors are closed to protect the interior of the housing.

Unmanned aerial vehicle landing platform with tether passthrough systems and methods

Systems and methods related to landing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are provided. In one example, a method includes receiving a UAV on a surface of a landing platform. The method may further include operating a positioning device disposed under the surface to locate the UAV. The method may further include operating the positioning device to move the UAV to a location and/or an orientation on the surface. The UAV may comprise landing gear having a plurality of legs, where each leg comprises a shock absorption system. The method may further include operating the shock absorption system during the receiving operation to reduce force received at stress areas of the UAV, and after the receiving operation, operating the shock absorption system to dampen movement by the UAV. Related devices and systems are also provided.

Landing systems and methods for unmanned aerial vehicles

Piezoelectric actuator apparatus and methods for providing tactile feedback are described herein. An example piezoelectric actuator assembly includes a support plate having a recessed well and conductive contact disposed within the recessed well of the support plate. A piezoelectric element has a first layer composed of an electrically conductive material and a second layer adjacent the first layer composed of a piezoelectric material. The piezoelectric element is disposed within the recessed well so that the first layer directly engages the conductive contact and the second layer is to be electrically coupled to a ground via a flexible conductive lead.

A unitary handheld portable module includes a keypad for entering data and a display for displaying data. A base module is configured to be coupled with and communicate through a telephone line and includes a keypad for dialing a telephone number and a display for displaying information. The portable and base modules are configured to have a mounted configuration in which the portable module is removably mounted on the base module and covers the base module's display, and the modules communicate with each other for the portable module's display to display information relating to operation of the base module.

Access Panels for electronic devices are disclosed herein. An example electronic device disclosed herein includes a housing having an opening to access a card holder and an access panel coupled to the housing to cover the opening. The access panel slides and rotates relative to the housing when the access panel moves between an open position to allow access to the opening and a closed position to cover the opening. A first biasing element has a first end attached to the access panel and a second end attached to the housing and biases the access panel laterally relative to the housing. A second biasing element is coupled to the access panel to cause the access panel to rotate in a first rotational direction relative to the housing.

The disclosure relates to a system for adjusting a response signal of a transducer of an electronic device is provided. The system comprises: a substrate, such as a printed circuit board (PCB), having a first side and a second side; a transducer making an electrical connection with the first side of the PCB; and an enclosure mounted on the second side of the PCB. The enclosure defines a volume by an interior space of the enclosure and the second side of the PCB. In the system, the PCB, the transducer and the enclosure are contained within a housing for the device; and the transducer is in communication with the volume.

The battery pack has one or more cells that lack an outer coverage except for a polymer sheathing. The battery pack includes a mating notch on a terminal plate and may include a fingernail notch and/or one or more guide rails. The fingernail notch may be a single depression formed to allow a fingernail to slip onto the battery pack, may be a single depression and a ledge that are side-by-side, or may be formed of multiple ledges and/or depressions. There may be a single guide rail or multiple guide rails. Each guide rail preferably has a hollow interior section that is crossed by one or more ribs or segments.

The method for remote operation of a wireless communication device using an accessory involves establishing a communication channel between the accessory and the wireless communication device, providing output to a user on the accessory, receiving user input on the accessory, processing the user input and generating control signals for transmission to the wireless communication device to initiate one or more actions on the wireless communication device. The accessory comprises a touchscreen for presenting information to a user and receiving user input. The accessory may optionally be a hinged accessory with a dual touchscreen.

Universal integrated circuit card apparatus and related methods

A light-collecting accessory for an electronic device includes a housing having an outer surface and an inner surface. The housing can form an opening adapted to receive the electronic device. A light guide is communicatively coupled to the housing. The light guide can have a first end and a second end. The first end can be communicatively coupled to the outer surface of the housing. The second end can be communicatively coupled to the inner surface of the housing. In the event the electronic device resides in the opening of the housing, light emitted from the electronic device passes from the second end of the light guide to the first end of the light guide.

An apparatus secures a cover onto a housing of a portable electronic device. The apparatus has a first latch that is pivotally connected to the cover by a first hinge, so that in a first rotational position, the first latch contacts a first catch on the housing and in a second rotational position, the first latch is remote from the first catch. A second latch assembly has a second latch that is pivotally connected to the cover by a second hinge, so that in one rotational position, the second latch contacts a second catch on the housing and in another rotational position, the second latch is remote from the second catch. By squeezing the first and second latches between two fingers, a user is able to disengage those latches from the catches and remove the cover from the housing.

The disclosure provides a microphone coupler system for a microphone mounted on a printed circuit board (PCB) for a communication device. The system comprises a boot assembly to enclose the microphone and to direct acoustic signals to the microphone within the communication device, the boot assembly having a coupling section shaped to hold the microphone with the aperture facing upward from the PCB and an elongated section extending from the coupling section. In the system, an acoustic channel for the microphone is formed in part by the boot assembly when the boot assembly is mounted over the microphone. The system may further comprise a platform having an aperture, the platform for mounting on the PCB over the microphone.

An actuator assembly for use in an electronic device is provided. The actuator assembly includes a support tray formed of a conductive metal and defining an aperture extending through the support tray. A seat surrounds the aperture and supports an actuator. The actuator includes a piezoelectric element adhered to a metal substrate larger than the piezoelectric element. The metal substrate bends when the piezoelectric element contracts and expands in response to changes in the charge of the piezoelectric element. An insulator is disposed between the metal substrate and the support tray which electrically insulates the substrate from the metal substrate.
