A piston for an internal combustion engine includes a piston body forming a crown portion and a skirt portion. The skirt portion includes a bore that receives a pin for connecting the piston to a connecting rod, and the crown portion forms a bowl surrounded by a flat crown surface having an annular shape and disposed along a plane. The bowl and the flat crown surface meet along a circular edge surrounding a rim of the bowl. The piston further includes an annular protrusion disposed within the bowl adjacent the rim. The annular protrusion has a generally convex shape in cross section created by an upper, inwardly extending surface and a lower, inwardly extending surface that meet along a convex apex. The piston further includes an airfoil surface formed in the flat crown surface. The airfoil surface has a convex shape and extends annularly around the rim of the bowl.

Engine piston

A protective coating for a metal substrate is provided that is light, durable, galvanically protective, and easily applied at the site of manufacture. The coating has at least two layers, one of which is a galvanizing layer and one of which is a micro-composite of a galvanic metal and a non-conducting material, such as polymer. Such coatings are useful for example to protect pipes or other metal surfaces in corrosive environments. Methods of producing the coating are provided, including methods that use advanced spraying techniques to provide very thin but consistent layers. Using the advanced spraying methods the composite layer can be created by co-spraying the galvanic metal and the nonconductive material onto the surface of the galvanic coating. Optionally, an outer coat of insulating material can be applied to provide further protection to the surface.

Anti-corrosive coating for metal surfaces

A seat track assembly for adjusting a seat assembly of an automotive vehicle. The seat track assembly comprises a lower track and slidably coupled to an upper track. A locking mechanism includes a fixed lock plate secured to the lower track and having a first plurality of apertures. A moving lock plate is secured to the upper track and includes spaced apart and parallel upper and lower locking plates sandwiched on opposing sides of the fixed lock plate. Each of the upper and lower locking plates include a second plurality of apertures for aligning with the apertures in the fixed lock plate. A housing is mounted to the moving lock plate above the apertures. A pair of shear plates are slidably disposed within the housing and have opposing offset engagement fingers. The shear plates are biased to a locked position for selectively engaging the first and second apertures to lock and secure the upper track to the lower track. The shear plates are moveable to an unlocked position disengaged from the first and second apertures enabling the sliding movement between the upper track and the lower track. Additionally, at least one of the shear plates is engageable with the first and second apertures regardless of a relative position between the upper track and the lower track to provide infinite engagement of the locking mechanism between the upper and lower tracks.

Seat track assembly having a locking mechanism with infinite engagement

A device for exercising internal and external muscles of the leg is provided. The device includes a foot holder for pivotally supporting a user's foot. The foot holder is capable of pivoting around an axis which is substantially perpendicular to the foot, and near the front of the user's leg. The device also includes a tension control unit for providing constant resistance to pivoting of the foot holder. The device preferably has separate foot holders and hydraulic tension control units for each foot.

Leg exercise device

A shoulder brace comprising a resilient shoulder means conformable to the shoulder and upper arm of the wearer. The shoulder brace also includes a plurality of resilient torso straps each having a shoulder end which is attached to the shoulder means and an anchor end, and a plurality of resilient side straps each having a sleeve end which is attached to the shoulder means and a waist end. A waist belt is also provided which includes an overlap means for releasably affixing the waist belt about the waist of the user and a plurality of loop means in spatial relationship about the waist belt for removably securing each of the anchor ends and waist ends to the waist belt.
