An enhanced battery saving capacity device () and method () is disclosed. In its simplest form, the method () includes the steps of: detecting () an off state by detecting a load current below a threshold; and entering () a battery saver mode including a duty cycle test period, by: providing a periodic test signal; disconnecting a battery for a first interval of time; and reconnecting the battery for a second interval in synchronization with the periodic test signal, to determine whether the load current exceeds the threshold. The method () can reduce power drain when an electronic device is off or stored for an extended period of time. It can also extend the shelf life and minimize the possibility of damage to the life cycle of a battery, by lowering the possibility of severe discharge of a battery.

Method and device with enhanced battery capacity savings

Methods and apparatus for dynamically adjusting an over-current protection threshold () are disclosed. A dynamic over-current protection circuit () receives a first trigger to switch to a high discharge current mode. The dynamic over-current protection circuit () starts a high-current timer () and increases the over-current protection threshold () in response to receiving the trigger. The dynamic over-current protection circuit () decreases the over-current protection threshold () and starts a hold-off timer () in response to an expiration of the high current timer (). The hold-off timer () prevents a second trigger from causing a switch to the high discharge current mode until the hold-off timer expires.

Methods and apparatus for dynamically adjusting an over-current protection threshold

An energy management circuit () for use with one or more rechargeable cells () is capable of prohibiting discharge in response to temporal or other inputs. In one embodiment, a control circuit () applies a control signal to a discharge control node () when a charging current is applied for less than a charging duration threshold. The control signal causes a discharge disconnect switch () to open. In another embodiment, the control circuit () applies the control signal to the discharge control node () after failing to detect a charging current for at least a non-charging duration threshold. Discharge can again be allowed by applying a charging current for at least a reset duration.

Battery and energy management circuit with temporal storage mode

An automated component placement device (100) includes an automated robotic transporter (108) that transports a component (106) into an illuminated area (104) on a translucent compliant surface (102) upon which components (104) are placed in a three dimensional orientation such that a silhouette of the components, leads, coplanar or non-coplanar are created on the translucent compliant surface (102) when the translucent compliant surface (102) is flexed. The position of silhouette of the component (106) is used to determine the orientation of the component held by the robotic transporter (108) to facilitate the placement of the component (106).
