A multi-lumen catheter includes a primary lumen having a proximal end and a tip and a secondary lumen parallel to the primary lumen. The primary lumen and the secondary lumen share a wall. A port is defined in the wall proximate the tip of the primary lumen and provides fluidic communication between the primary lumen and the secondary lumen.

Seeping flow anti-clotting blood catheter

A catheter includes an elongated tube having a distal end and a proximal end. The elongated tube includes porous material having an interior and an exterior face. The interior face defines a lumen along a central axis of the elongated tube. The porous material is configured to flow a fluid between the interior face and the exterior face and to seep the fluid out of the porous material through the exterior face and interior face. A lining covers at least a portion of the exterior face and substantially limits perfusion through the exterior face at the portion of the exterior face covered by the lining. The catheter is impregnated with a material that prevents buildup of material on one of an inner face or an outer face of the catheter or the lining is coated with one or more of an anticoagulant, antibiotic, or antithrombotic.

Microfluidic structures for biomedical applications

The device and methods described herein relate to a seeping flow catheter. The seeping flow catheter includes a porous material. The inner face of the porous material defines the lumen of the catheter. The porous material is configured such that fluid can flow along the length of the catheter, between the inner face and outer face of the porous material. As the fluid flows through the porous material, the fluid can seep into the lumen of the catheter through the inner face or out of the catheter through the outer face of the porous material. Portions of the inner or outer face can include a lining that substantial reduces the perfusion of the fluid through the lined areas.

A scaffold defines a plurality of channels, into which axons of a severed nerve may regenerate, such as after limb amputation. Each channel includes a corresponding electrode. Regenerating axons may make electrical contact with the electrodes. Each channel is at least partially filled with a growth factor selected to selectively stimulate axon regeneration. Adjacent channels may include different growth factors, so as to attract different types of axons, for example efferent axons and afferent axons, to each of the adjacent channels. The growth factors may be distributed in the channels so as to present a gradient across a geometry of each channel. This gradient provides enhanced differentiated geometric guidance to the axons, thereby yielding better specificity, in terms of which axons regenerate into which channels. Topography, such as geometric patterns in walls, ceilings and floors of the channels, may also be used to selectively encourage axon regeneration into the channels.

A device and method for oxygenating blood is disclosed herein. The device includes a plurality of passive mixing elements that causes a fluid to mix as it flows through the device. The passive mixing elements continually expose new red blood cells to the portion of the flow channel where oxygenation can occur. Accordingly, in some implementations, the device and method uses less blood to prime the device and allows for the oxygenation of blood with a substantial shorter flow channel when compared to conventional oxygenation methods and devices.

A looper throw out mechanism is provided for bodily moving sewing machine loopers from their normal operative position to a servicable position and back. The looper throw out mechanism includes a looper carrier pivotally arranged on the looper drive shaft, a fork like member attached to the looper carrier, a control disc disposed in operative combination with the fork like member for defining the angular displacement limits of the looper carrier, and a manually operated locking device for releasably securing the looper carrier to the looper drive shaft. When looper servicing is desired, the locking device is released by the operator permitting the looper carrier and the loopers to be pivoted to a serviceable position removed from their operative position.

This disclosure relates to a four motion feed mechanism for sewing machines that is adapted to advance a workpiece past the stitch forming point of the machine. Orbital movement is imparted to the feed dog by a drive mechanism including first and second linkage assemblies driven off a common eccentric arranged on the sewing machine bed shaft. A feed regulating assembly including a single feed regulator control knob is operatively associated with one of the linkage assemblies to selectively pre-set the stitch length of the machine.

This disclosure relates to a four motion feed mechanism for sewing machines that is adapted to advance a work piece past the stitch forming point of the machine. Orbital movement is imparted to the feed dog by a drive mechanism including first and second linkage assemblies driven off a common eccentric arranged on the sewing machine bed shaft. A feed lift regulatory assembly is operatively connected to one of the linkage assemblies and is provided to selectively modify the amplitude of lift that is imparted to the feed dog of the machine.

This disclosure relates to a sewing machine lubrication system including positive displacement mechanisms adapted to transmit lubricant under pressure to the operating mechanisms of the machines and for transferring lubricant collected in non-drainable areas of the machine to the lubricant reservoir. Arranged in combination with the displacement mechanisms is a filtering/distribution assembly which serves to individually and selectively supply a relatively small, but sufficient quantity of lubricant to the operating mechanisms according to the requirements thereof. The present invention further provides a pressure relief valve assembly for selectively regulating the pressure in the lubrication system.

A metering device for a sewing machine for supplying a predetermined length of material to the stitch forming instrumentalities. Movement is imparted to the metering device by a series of one way clutch assemblies, one of which is operably connected to a drive mechanism of the machine. A motion transfer mechanism provides for opposite movement in unison of the clutch assemblies so that any movement of the drive mechanism results in a feeding displacement of the metering device. A brake assembly applies a symetrical frictional force to one of the feed rollers so as to prevent overthrow of the device.

A knife assembly adapted for cutting thread utilized in a sewing machine including first and second levers each having first and second end portions and a medial portion therebetween, the first end portion of the second lever defining a first cutting blade portion, first means at the second end portion of the second lever for mounting the second lever for pivotal movement, a link having first and second end portions and a medial portion therebetween, the first end portion of the links defining a second cutting blade portion cooperative with the first cutting blade portion for cutting a thread therebetween upon relative pivoting motion between the link and the second lever, second means pivotally connecting together the medial portions of the link and lever, and third means pivotally connecting together the first end portion of the first lever and the second end portion of the link whereby motion imparted to the second end portion of the first lever creates the latter-mentioned relative pivoting motion between the link and the second lever to cut a thread adapted to be disposed between the first and second cutting blade portions.

Stop mechanism which prevents actuation of the machine if an orientating means associated therewith has not returned to its proper position. This mechanism includes a series of levers which are forced into an abutting relationship with one another if the work cycle of the orientating means is not fully completed prior to full actuation of said machine.
