Direct to systems and methods for a service activation system in a telecommunications network that utilizes one or more generic container files for building the configuration file to instantiate the service on the network. A request for service from a network may be received from an order entry system that includes specific information about the requested service. A collection of generic configuration files may be selected based on the information included in the service order and arranged to build a configuration file to be executed on the network. The service activation system may also include a component or group of components to verify a received service order and alter the service order with default information or data where applicable. The configuration file may also be executed on the network through one or more drivers communicating with the affected devices to configure the one or more network devices.

Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems and methods for a service activation system in a telecommunications network that utilizes one or more generic container files for building the configuration file to instantiate the service on the network. In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method of managing a virtual local area network (VLAN) domain associated with a network is provided. In this embodiment, the method comprises: defining a VLAN domain comprising a list of a plurality of connectively coupled ports of the network associated with the VLAN domain; and assigning at least one VLAN associated with the plurality of connectively coupled ports. In another embodiment, a system for managing virtual local area networks (VLANs) in a network is provided. In this embodiment, the system comprises a network provisioning module for defining a VLAN domain comprising a list of a plurality of connectively coupled ports of the network associated with the VLAN domain and assigning at least one VLAN associated with the plurality of connectively coupled ports. The system further comprises a a network monitoring system operable to gather actual network element configuration data from a plurality of network elements associated with one or more VLAN domains, wherein the actual network element configuration data identifies one or more VLANs that at least some of the plurality of network elements are actually allocated to; and a VLAN services module operable to correlate the actual network element configuration data with administrative VLAN data. The administrative VLAN data identifies one or more VLANs recognized by a business process. In one particular embodiment, the system is further operable to determine one or more VLANs that are not commonly identified in both the actual network element configuration data and the administrative VLAN data.

Managing virtual local area network domains

Aspects of the present disclosure include an activation, consolidation, and transformation system (ACT) for a telecommunications network. A request is received to provision one or more devices in a network and includes a key and key value. The request is routed to a data source associated with the key or key value of the request. Data is queried from the data source and validated by the ACT. At least one template is identified from a plurality of digital templates based upon attributes of the data that is applied to the at least one template and the template transforms the data to an output. The output comprises instructions for configuring a device for a telecommunications service based on the request.
