Apparatus for quick screening for vaginal moisture pH level and for amine associated with such moisture, comprising a manipulable element including a probe insertable into the vagina; a pH indicator on a first side of the element, the indicator characterized as producing a color which corresponds to pH level of vaginal moisture contacting the indicator; and a second indicator on a second side of the element, the second indicator elongated lengthwise of the element and being an amine indicator, the second indicator having an outer surface exposed to vaginal moisture, the surface presenting a sequence of crests for collection of moisture between crests in response to movement of the element in the vagina.

Vaginal moisture screening enhancement

Apparatus for quick screening for vaginal moisture pH level as related to a pre-selected pH level, comprising a manipulable element including a probe insertible into the vagina, at least one pH indicator on the element, the indicator characterized as producing a color which corresponds to pH level of vaginal moisture contacting the indicator, and a local comparison zone on the element having a color corresponding to a predetermined pH level, and positioned and shaped for quick color comparison with the color of the indicator after indicator contact with vaginal moisture. A test site for vaginosis may also be located on the probe, in non-interfering relation with said indicator and/or said zone.

Digital type color comparisons in vaginal moisture pH determination

The method of quickly screening for vaginal moisture conditions, that includes providing a manually manipulable element including a probe insertible into the vagina; providing one or more pH indicating first test site or sites on one portion of the probe; providing a vaginosis test site on another portion of the probe; manipulating the probe to transfer vaginal moisture to the sites, and, therefore, externally of the vagina, applying an hydroxide to the vaginosis test site, to come in contact with moisture at the vaginosis test site; and detecting presences of an amine or amines produced at the vaginosis site.

Multi-purpose vaginal moisture screening

The method of treating a human female menopausal condition, the steps that include determining need for increasing estrogen level in the blood, from a lower level associated with reduced ovarian estrogen production, the determining including measuring vaginal moisture or urethral fluid pH level, at repeated time intervals over a series of days. A test for FSH level in the blood, during those days, may be made for detection of high level FSH in conjunction with high pH level at the vagina to establish need for estrogen therapy, on a confirmatory basis.

In the method of measuring pH of vaginal or other tissue moisture, the steps that include providing an indicator that exhibits a characteristic color when contacted with the moisture, the color being a function of moisture pH; obtaining a vaginal or other tissue moisture sample and transferring moisture from the sample to an indicator, outside the body, whereby the indicator then exhibits a characteristic color, which is a function of pH of the moisture; and providing a color comparison measurement means, and comparing the indicator characteristic color with color comparison measurement means. A method for detecting pH of vaginal or urethral moisture, the steps that include providing an elongated carrier; providing a pH detector on the carrier; providing a moisture receiver in association with the carrier, and via which a sample of vaginal or urethral moisture is applicable to a detector to effect a changed color thereof; and providing a pH correlating color comparison means in sufficiently close association with the detector to allow visual comparison of the changed color exhibited by the detector with a pH correlated color provided by measurement means.

A method of detecting pathogenic bacteria in the vagina, includes providing a vaginal moisture receiver receivable into the vagina; providing a reactant which changes color when contacted by moisture containing pathogenic bacteria; receiving vaginal moisture on the receiver; and contacting reactant with vaginal moisture on the receiver, whereby a change in color at the receiver indicates the presence of pathogenic bacteria.
