The automated pet cage includes a locking assembly for the door of the pet case, which is able to remotely or autonomously unlock and open the door of the pet cage as needed or in an emergency. The locking assembly is integrated into the design of the door of the pet cage, and provides for manual or autonomous operation in order to open the pet cage in a plurality of situations. The locking assembly is in communication with a display console that is in control over operation of the automated pet cage. The display console can remotely interface with a cellular telephone/Bluetooth enabled device in order to receive remote instructions in order to open the door of the pet cage. The display console also communicates wirelessly with the locking assembly.

In order to protect the operation of and insure the life of a sprinkler system, this device will be placed in the ground and will provide a protective cover for an individual sprinkler mechanism. The device will prevent the entry of debris into the sprinkler mechanism but also not interfere with the normal operation of the sprinkler. Additionally this will also allow the performance of routine maintenance on the sprinkler heads without the necessity of removing the entire sprinkler assembly.

The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) system introduced in this application provides data from an underground medium of the same caliber as that provided by conventional radars in air or space applications. This includes direction as well as distance to all targets, and some indication of target shape and orientation, within a conical volume of the underground having a solid angle of about 90 degrees and a radial depth of about 100 feet, under ideal conditions, as depicted in FIG. The key to this capability is depicted in FIG. and is a hemispheric dome ( ) which is placed against the smoothed surface ( ) of the underground medium ( ), and which has a relative dielectric constant (E ) substantially equal to that of the underground medium ( ). A microwave horn antenna ( ), which is filled with the same dielectric material ( ) as that from which the dome is constructed, is placed against the surface ( ) of this dome ( ) and is moved back and forth ( ), allowing the radar beam ( ) of the horn antenna ( ) to systematically scan the entire conical volume. The signal path of this radar antenna system is thus completely within a dielectric material having an (E ) comparable to that of the underground medium, from Coax-to-Waveguide transition through to the potential underground targets. No air-to-dielectric interface, with its reflections and refractive lensing effects, remains.

Ground penetrating radar incorporating a real-time multi-target direction finding capability

A system for performing minimally invasive cardiac procedures. The system includes a pair of surgical instruments that are coupled to a pair of robotic arms. The instruments have end effectors that can be manipulated to hold and suture tissue. The robotic arms are coupled to a pair of master handles by a controller. The handles can be moved by the surgeon to produce a corresponding movement of the end effectors. The movement of the handles is scaled so that the end effectors have a corresponding movement that is different, typically smaller, than the movement performed by the hands of the surgeon. The scale factor is adjustable so that the surgeon can control the resolution of the end effector movement. The movement of the end effector can be controlled by an input button, so that the end effector only moves when the button is depressed by the surgeon. The input button allows the surgeon to adjust the position of the handles without moving the end effector, so that the handles can be moved to a more comfortable position. The system may also have a robotically controlled endoscope which allows the surgeon to remotely view the surgical site. A cardiac procedure can be performed by making small incisions in the patient's skin and inserting the instruments and endoscope into the patient. The surgeon manipulates the handles and moves the end effectors to perform a cardiac procedure such as a coronary artery bypass graft.

Method and apparatus for performing minimally invasive cardiac procedures

An interface that allows a surgeon to remotely control surgical devices and conditions of an operation room. The surgeon views a video image that is displayed by a monitor. The monitor may be coupled to a video device such as a laparoscopic camera that is attached to the end of an endoscope. Static graphic images and a dynamic graphic cursor are overlayed onto the video image. The graphic cursor has a pixel location on the monitor which corresponds to a spatial location of a pointer signal. The pointer signal is transmitted by a transmitter worn on the head of the surgeon. The pointer signal may be a laser which is directed to a screen that is located adjacent to a detection camera. The surgeon may move the graphic cursor relative to the video image by tilting his head and varying the spatial location of the pointer signal. The interface may have a controller which generates output signals in response to the movement of the pointer signal. The output signals may move a robotic arm which controls the position of the endoscope. The controller may also generate command signals when the graphic cursor is moved into a static graphic image. The command may vary a condition of the operating room such as the position of the operating table.

A south polar projected world map superimposed onto a manually rotatable map disk (14) is divided with twenty-four time zone indicator lines (20) representing the time zones of universal time, the map disk (14) being positioned such that the user's geographic location is vertically oriented to represent map north, and the map disk (14) being further positioned so that the time zone indicator lines (20) are aligned with time zone pointers (22) located on a separate zone pointer disk (16) which is fixed in position over the map disk (14). A time disk (18) having hour indicators differentiated by a.m. and p.m., and having a shaded portion (32) representing night is positioned over the zone pointer disk (16) and stepped counterclockwise each hour in increments of fifteen degrees of rotation thereby positioning the hour indicators (30) over the time zone pointers (22), each step representing one time zone. The clock also includes indicators for displaying minutes and seconds.
