The connection manager includes a graphical user interface and an advice window. The graphical user interface is configured to manipulate parameters associated with the connection. The graphical user interface includes a form component. The advice window is responsive to user actions associated with the form component.

Methods and apparatus to control network access from a user device, are disclosed. An example method includes receiving a request from a user device for access to a network, receiving a first password from the user device, determining that the first password is invalid, and sending a second password and a command to the user device to cause the user device to execute an application to store the second password on a network access device associated with the user device.

Methods and apparatus to control network access from a user device

In a particular embodiment, the disclosure is directed to a method of configuring a computer coupled to a residential gateway. The method includes executing resource sharing software on the computer, receiving a message from the residential gateway requesting identification of available resources of the computer, and sending a response message to the residential gateway. The response message identifies a set of available resources of the computer. The method further includes receiving access settings corresponding to each of the set of available resources and configuring the computer to provide access to each of the set of available resources in accordance with the access settings.
