A lighting apparatus includes a front enclosure and a back enclosure including guide slots formed thereon. A mounting plate including a plurality of LEDs mounted thereon is attached to the back enclosure. A circuit board is attached to the mounting plate. A center extrusion is attached to the back enclosure. A plurality of spaced fin extrusions are attached to the mounting plate and positioned in the guide slots of the back enclosure. Side rails are attached to the mounting plate and back enclosure and spaced from the fin extrusions. The plurality of spaced fin extrusions and side rails allow passage of air in an upward direction between the spaced extrusions and side rails transferring heat generated from the lighting apparatus to the air.

Scaleable solid state lighting apparatus

A lighting system distinguishes between light from natural and manmade sources to prevent the system's light source from being inadvertently deactivated due to light received from manmade light sources. A sensor converts received light into electrical energy. The system light source and/or some other external light source can emit light with a modulation. The system includes a modulation detector that can detect the modulation in the electrical energy received from the sensor. A system controller selectively adjusts the flow of electrical energy to the system light source responsive to the electrical signals from the sensor. The controller adjusts the flow of electrical energy in response to the non-modulated component of the electrical signals from the sensor. The controller does not adjust the flow of electrical energy in response to the modulated component of the electrical signals from the sensor.

At least one thermopile is associated with the motor. The at least one thermopile provides energy for driving the at least one motor for rotating the food holding member.

An apparatus and method for retaining hair is disclosed. The apparatus includes a flexible member having a latching section and a band section. The band section includes a ridge portion and the latching section includes one or more teeth for selectively engaging with the ridge portion. The apparatus also includes a decorative sleeve for covering the band section. In operation, the band section can be wrapped around the group of hair and positioned with the latching section so that the one or more teeth engage with the ridge portion of the band section and thereby secure the band section into a loop around the hair.

A spinning figurine toy has a weighted skirt or disc to provide angular momentum, a lower spindle, a spring attached to the lower spindle, a foot inserted into the lower end of the spring, and a rod fixed in the foot and able to move vertically within the lower spindle. When the toy is spun upon the foot, bouncing or jumping motion may be imparted to the toy by dropping it from a height because of the resilient nature of the spring. A pull-string operated hand launcher having a helical spindle on top fits into a corresponding helical aperture in the foot to provide a means of setting the toy in motion at high speed and of releasing it.
