A user interacts with a graphical user interface on a client device. The device displays a data visualization that includes configuration parameters. The device also displays one or more read-only static controls, each static control corresponding to a respective parameter. Each static control indicates the value assigned to the corresponding parameter. A first user action activates a first static control. The first static control corresponds to a first parameter with a first value. The device displays an editable indirect control in the graphical user interface, which displays the first value. The editable indirect control is larger than the first static control, and is superimposed over the corresponding static control. The user changes the first value to a second value, and the device updates the displayed data visualization based on the second value for the first parameter. The editable indirect control is subsequently removed from display in the graphical user interface.

Systems and methods for effectively using data controls in a graphical user interface on a small visual display

A method dynamically assigns tasks for visually presenting data. A server receives a request, from a client device, to display a visual representation of data in a designated format. The request specifies one or more client device characteristics, including: client memory capacity; current client memory utilization; client processor capability; current client processor utilization; and the client's web browser. The server determines whether to render the requested visual representation at the server or at the client device based on several factors, including the client device characteristics and the size of the data set. When rendering at the client, the server sends the requested data to the client, including data necessary to render the visual representation in the designated format. Otherwise, the server renders the requested visual representation according to the designated format using the data, and sends the rendered image to the client.

The present invention is directed to utilizing monitoring devices () for determining the demographics of individuals passing a particular retail location. The monitoring devices () are distributed to a number of study respondents. The monitoring devices () track the movements of the respondents whose demographics are known. A tool bar for placement of a band of fertilizer in soil has a vertical knife with a horizontal blade thereon to create an inverted T-shaped slot in the soil. A band of fertilizer is placed in the bottom of the slot through a tube on the knife. A first coulter fills the slot with soil and compacts the soil above the band. A second coulter forms a mound of soil over the compacted soil and creates an elongated furrow in the soil above and laterally removed from the band. An automated truss inspection system for inspecting metal plate connected trusses includes a base structure having a truss feed end and a truss exit end, a truss presence detector and a bar code scanner. A truss structure sensor array and at least one metal sensor array are situated intermediate the truss feed end and truss exit end for detection of truss structure and absence thereof and detection of the presence/absence of metal, respectively. Finally, a rotary pulse generator is included for determining truss speed and distance traveled. All of the scanning and measuring devices are operatively connected to an analyzing and comparing device such as a computer which analyzes data received from those devices and constructs an X-Y coordinate outline image of the truss under inspection, the image then being compared to the ideal model of the truss under inspection to determine acceptability of the truss.
