Headset for headmounted display

The invention relates to a display head-set device that includes a support member and a display-optics interface pod coupled to one of a left handle portion and a right handle portion of the support member. The display-optics interface pod houses an image display for viewing by a user. In one embodiment, the display head-set resembles a pair of eye glasses with the interface pod attached to one of the left handle portion and the right handle portion of the support member by an arm clip and extending into the field of vision to offer a monocular viewing sight to the user.

A storage assembly for an electronic device, such as a telephone handset. The storage assembly is comprised of a tube housing, carrier tray and tray locking mechanism. The tube housing receives a telephone handset forcing the carrier tray to the full aft and locked position. At this point, the telephone handset is completely stored inside the tube housing. A push-button release mechanism provides the ability for the user to eject the telephone handset from the tube when needed. The entire tube housing is designed to fit in the armrest of a seat on an airplane, train, car or any other desired seat. This allows storage of the telephone handset while maximizing the available space immediately around the seat used for other purposes.

A separable connector for electrically coupling two portions of multiple-conductor cable is disclosed. The connector, in a connected state, is held together by operation of the novel shape of the connector halves. The two connector halves, which each include therein a plurality of metallic contact strips, are identical and 'gender neutral', such that any two connector halves may be coupled together. Connection of the connector halves is accomplished by pushing the two halves together; disconnection is accomplished by pulling them apart. When connected, continuous electrical contact is maintained between contact strips in each respective half. The connector is constructed of molded plastic, and includes rubber strain relief collars for preventing fatigue and failure of the attached portions of multiple conductor cable.

A miniaturized headset of the post-auricle type is disclosed. The headset microphone may be located in the capsule, or at the end of a swivelable boom near the wearer's mouth. In either case, the headset capsule is contoured to fit over the mastoid process of the skull, in order to provide better weight distribution, comfort and stability. The headset capsule is further contoured by providing a front-to-back concavity in the upper portions of the capsule's sides, so as to generally conform to the curvature of the wearer's head.
