A coupling for multi-wall, corrugated pipe, the pipe including a corrugated wall having a plurality of primary corrugations, is disclosed. The coupling includes a first pipe section having disposed at one end a bell portion, the bell portion having a bell portion of corrugated wall and an outer wall; a second pipe section having disposed at one end a spigot portion, the spigot portion having a spigot portion of corrugated wall between an inner wall and an outer wall; and a gasket disposed in a groove extending around a circumference of the spigot portion and engaged between the bell portion of corrugated wall and the spigot portion of corrugated wall. A multi-wall, corrugated pipe section, and method for assembling a plurality of multi-wall, corrugated pipe sections, are also disclosed.

Multi-wall corrugated pipe couplings and methods

A coupling for multi-wall, corrugated pipe, the pipe including a corrugated wall having a plurality of primary corrugations, is disclosed. The coupling includes a first pipe section having disposed at one end a bell portion, the bell portion having a portion of the corrugated wall and an outer wall; a second pipe section having disposed at one end a spigot portion, the spigot portion having a portion of the corrugated wall between an inner wall and an outer wall; and a gasket engaged between the corrugated wall of the bell portion and the outer wall of the spigot portion. A multi-wall, corrugated pipe section, and method for assembling a plurality of multi-wall, corrugated pipe sections, are also disclosed.

A pipe having an axially extending bore defined by a smooth inner wall fused to a corrugated outer wall is provided. The corrugated outer wall has axially adjacent, annular, outwardly-extending crests separated by valleys. The pipe further includes an outer layer fused to the outer wall, the outer layer having adjacent concave portions and convex portions, the concave portions being aligned with corrugation valleys of the outer wall so that each concave portion of the outer layer extends between at least two corrugation crests. A method of improving the resistance to deformation of a corrugated pipe having a smooth inner wall fused to an outer wall defined by annular crests and valleys is also provided.

A pipe having an axially extending bore is defined by a pipe wall including a corrugated outer wall having axially adjacent annular outwardly-extending crests separated by valleys. The pipe wall also includes a non-linear outer layer having adjacent concave portions and convex portions. The concave portions are aligned with the corrugation crests of the outer wall so that the convex portion of the outer layer extends outwardly between at least two corrugation crests to provide improved resistance to deformation.

A pipe having an axially extending bore is defined by a corrugated outer wall having alternating, axially-adjacent, annular crests and valleys. The wall of the pipe has a hole disposed in a valley which provides fluid communication between the bore and the outside. The pipe also has a cover which extends between and is attached to axially adjacent crests. The cover is disposed over the hole to prevent material in which the pipe may be disposed from obstructing the hole and permitting fluid flow through the hole.

In a corrugated pipe comprising two sections joined by telescopically mating a male end of one section with a female end of the other section, an annular sealing element is fixed to the exterior surface of the male end and disposed to sealingly engage the interior surface of the female end. An annular band of reinforcing material is disposed around the exterior surface of the female end at a position along the longitudinal axis thereof that is in general alignment with the sealing element. The reinforcing material resists loss of sealing engagement between the female end and the sealing element during use of the pipe.

The present invention includes a pipe assembly for collecting water runoff. The pipe assembly includes a plurality of elongated primary pipes disposed in adjacent contact along their lengths. Each pair of adjacent elongated primary pipes define upper and lower elongated voids between adjacent pipe haunches and upper and lower imaginary planes tangential thereto. An elongated secondary pipe is disposed in each void in tangential contact along its length with the two adjacent elongated primary pipes defining the void. A material transversely encompasses the plurality of elongated primary pipes and elongated secondary pipes. The pipe assembly may be used in a water storage system and methods for installing such a system. The pipe assembly may also be used in a method for collecting surface water. The pipe assembly may be used in a system for use in a water flow path.

A corrugated pipe is provided having a pipe structure of an inner wall having an interior surface and an exterior surface, and an outer wall having corrugations, each of the corrugations having an interior surface and an exterior surface, each corrugation having a crown. The pipe structure has a trough between each corrugation, and each trough has a center-point, with the distance between the center-points of adjacent troughs defining the pitch of the pipe. The pipe structure has at each crown a first distance extending in a straight line from the crown exterior surface to the interior surface of the inner wall, with the distance defining the pitch being a second distance, with the ratio of the first distance to the second distance being less than 0.8:1.0. The pipe could be of metal or plastic, but if plastic, upon the application of pressure the pipe can deflect to greater than 30% of its original diameter without exhibiting imperfections of structural failure, and in the preferred embodiment greater than 35%. The outer wall has a sidewall portion intermediate the crown and the trough, with the sidewall portion being inclined to the inner wall in the range of 75-80%, with the angle of inclination in the preferred embodiment being about 78&frac12;%.

An in-line bell pipe is provided, formed by joining at least two corrugated sections of pipe having a male portion and a female portion to connect the corrugated sections. Each corrugated section has a plurality of first corrugations having a crest and a valley, with the distance between the crest and valley of the first corrugations being a first distance. The male portion of each corrugated section has at least one second corrugation and one third corrugation, with each second corrugation and each third corrugation having a respective crest and valley and with the distance between the respective crests and valleys being a second distance and a third distance respectively. The second distance and the third distance each are less than the first distance. The crest of the third corrugation also has a recessed area that accommodates a sealing element, with the sealing element being retained the recessed area and the female portion.

A control system for an athletic field coordinates drainage by gravity or vacuum-enhanced and irrigation by monitoring water level with respect to a subsurface membrane, wherein a flow network resides on the membrane and is covered by a fill layer, which in turn supports the field surface thereabove. The flow network includes couplings located at the intersections of some of the pipe rows and conduit rows. The water permeability of the conduit rows allows the flow network to be used for draining, irrigating or heating the field. The heating of the fill layer and the surface thereabove minimizes energy costs and eliminates installation and maintenance costs that would otherwise be necessitated by separate heating and draining systems.

Control system for draining, irrigating and heating an athletic field

An improved pipe construction is disclosed having an inner and outer surface, intermediate walls extending between the inner and outer surfaces, and a plurality of primary and secondary internal cells. There are twice as many secondary internal cells as there are primary internal cells. Each of the primary internal cells is of a circular cross-section, while each of the secondary internal cells is of a three-sided cross-section. The primary and secondary cells are wound about the central longitudinal axis of the pipe. A method of forming the pipe of this structure is also disclosed.

Pipe construction

A coupler for use with helical double-wall corrugated pipe is disclosed having a spigot portion and a bell portion. The spigot portion has at least one corrugation formed therein, a spigot portion first edge and a spigot portion second edge, and is adapted to screw onto the end of a first pipe having a first pipe corrugated outer wall and a first pipe inner wall. The spigot portion second edge is adapted to be secured to the first pipe outer wall, and the spigot portion first edge is adapted to be secured to the first pipe inner wall. The bell portion has at least one corrugation formed therein, a bell portion first edge, and a bell portion second edge, and is adapted to screw onto the end of a second pipe having a second pipe corrugated outer wall and a second pipe inner wall. The bell portion second edge is adapted to be secured to the second pipe outer wall, and the bell portion first edge is adapted to be secured to the second pipe inner wall.

A drainage system for a natural turf athletic field includes a buried drainage network located above a water impermeable membrane which conforms to the topography of a compacted subsoil, the drainage network including a plurality of water impermeable pipe rows partially recessed in depressions in the subsoil and a plurality of water permeable conduit rows oriented perpendicular to and intersecting the pipe rows. At each intersection, a low profile coupling interconnects the respective pipe row to the respective conduit row, the coupling having a vertical dimension less than the combined vertical dimension of the pipe rows and the conduit rows. A fill layer covers the membrane and supports natural turf thereabove. The drainage network connects to a a gravity drain and a water supply. The design of the drainage network results in reduced excavation and simplified construction, thereby lowering the installation cost for the system. The system may also include a subsystem for vacuum-enhanced drainage, or irrigation and sensors for automatically initiating these features.

Pipe connector

A hydraulic structure is provided in the form of a flexible, flat, corrugated plastic tube having a relatively oblongated cross-section, with apertures associated with the grooves of the corrugation. The tube is enclosed in a geotextile sheath. The two relatively flat sides or panels of the tube are separated from each other by a plurality of pairs of cuspations, which project inwardly from the panel surface. Cuspations from the opposing panels are secured to one another thereby providing increased structural integrity.
