The system incorporates wire deflection, taut wire detection for perimeter security applications. Generally, the system of the invention provides intrusion detection by an internal mechanism. The internal mechanism can detect wire deflection in any direction. In turn, given a sufficient amount of wire deflection, a security system is signaled. However, the force required to sufficiently deflect the wires is high enough so as to minimize nuisance alarms. The internal mechanism is generally held within a structure so that it is protected from tampering. As such, the internal mechanism is also kept separate from the wire array so that it is protected from attempts by an intruder to isolate the wire array.

A friction hinge includes a socket made up of a compressible elastomer insert sleeve inside a relatively rigid cup substrate. The insert sleeve defines an opening with a lip around the opening, and a relatively rigid ball or other center portion can be snap assembled through the lip and opening to center itself in the socket. A mount portion extends through the opening off the ball/center portion, and hand pressure on the mount portion can adjust the angular position of the joint. The size of the ball/center portion relative to the size of the cup substrate causes dimensional compression of the insert sleeve, such as about 15% of its thickness. The compression of the insert sleeve creates a controlled friction force on the ball/center portion, so the snap assembly friction hinge works consistently over a long time and over wide temperature ranges.

The invention is directed to devices and methods for tissue dilators. The present invention encompasses a large variety of discrete structure, all intended to be applied externally to a subject for the purpose of dilating, or lifting, tissue adjacent to nasal passageways of the subject, including the vestibule and/or the valve of the subject so as to decrease resistance to inhalation and exhalation of said subject during respiration. The dilator comprises an alignment feature which is aligned with the uses nasal ridge during application to ensure a proper application.

A pneumatic control device includes a housing, a pressure control member secured to the housing, a first fluid-conduit member, and a first sensor. The pressure control member is constructed and arranged to selectively change a fluid pressure within the control member. The first fluid-conduit member is in fluid-flow communication with the pressure control member. The first sensor is in fluid-flow communication with the first fluid-conduit member. The sensor is constructed and arranged to generate a control signal based upon the fluid pressure within the control member. In preferred systems, the pneumatic controller is useful for producing a variable control signal to control a rate of fluid dispersement to a patient in an angiographic system.

A rodent bait station includes an enclosure having an inclined passageway leading from an opening in the enclosure to an elevated bait receptacle having a removable tray with a handle. The inclined passageway terminates at the lowest elevation of the opening to prevent water from becoming trapped in the enclosure. A separate internal receptacle is provided in the enclosure for storing and protecting printed materials, e.g., maintenance records. A replaceable latch on the enclosure includes an alignment member disposed between a pair of engagement members which engage cooperative slots and which are deformable to unengaged positions by a key that wedges between the engagement members and the alignment member.

Rodent bait station

A size adjustable athletic boot of a molded plastic or composite construction which is adjustable in length, width and height allowing three dimensional fit (3-D fit) for a variety of foot sizes. The boot has a base section and a tongue section which extends from a toe end of the base section. The tongue and base sections combine to define a variable volume foot space between them. A heel section telescopes over a rear end of the base section. The heel section has a heel surface which in combination with an upper surface of the base section defines a foot support surface. A cuff extends upward from a heel wall of the heel section. The cuff and a free end of the tongue section confront one another and define a foot entry opening between them. An adjustment mechanism is adapted to selectively position the heel section on the rear end of the base section to vary the length of the foot support surface relative to the length of a user's foot. An adjustable securing mechanism is adapted to adjust the foot entry opening and the foot space to conform to the user's foot and to releasably secure the user's foot within the 3-D fit boot.

A protective helmet suitable for safe use by a person having long hair is disclosed. The helmet includes an outer dome-shaped shell of impact-resistant material configured to fit on the head of a wearer. A liner affixed to the inside of the shell snugly positions the helmet on the head and dissipates impact forces received by the outer shell. A hair-entraining passage formed in the rear portion of the helmet is sized to enable the wearer's hair to be gathered and controllably guided thereby. The passage may be defined by a bulge in the helmet shell or by an aperture formed therethrough. The aperture is sized small enough to prevent harmful impact penetration of an object such as a ball, hockey puck or the like with the wearer's head.
