Compensating electrical circuits are incorporated into loop antenna configurations for improved energy efficiency and extension of the magnetic fields for improved magnetic field coupling and reading of the tag by a reader. The tuning and compensating circuits provide a reader magnetic response having maxima at the center carrier frequency and at the low sideband frequency for improved reception of return signals from the tag to the reader.

An electronic device for monitoring the charge state of a rechargeable battery comprising a voltage sensor, a current sensor, a microprocessor, and a display. The voltage sensor is operatively connected to the microprocessor to provide to the microprocessor an electronic signal indicative of the voltage appearing across the terminals of the battery. The current sensor is operatively connected to the microprocessor to provide to the microprocessor an electronic signal indicative of the current between the terminals of the battery. Based on the signals received from the voltage and current sensors, the microprocessor calculates the total current discharge capacity of the battery and the present level of charge contained within the battery, and delivers electronic signals indicative of the total current discharge capacity and the present level of charge contained within the battery to the display means.

Automatic rechargeable battery monitoring system

A system for enabling a plurality of audio signals respectively representing different languages to be recorded on a present-day video tape in a present day video tape recorder without requiring any additional space on the tape. The bands of audio signals representing the different languages are selectively reproduced so that anyone viewing the video program recorded on the video tape may select any one of a number of languages to accompany the video program. In accordance with the invention, the bands of audio signals representing the different languages are heterodyned to different frequency bands, and are caused to modulate a sub-carrier which, in turn, is inserted into the video signals representing the video content. This enables the audio signals to be recorded in the video tracks of the tape together with the video signals.

System for combining multiple audio channels into the baseband video

The invention relates to a high frequency, high mechanical energy output apparatus comprising a transducer, a filter circuit, and a driving circuit. The transducer and the filter circuit are serially coupled together, and the transducer operates at its fundamental frequency of oscillatory motion. The driving circuit serves to drive the transducer at its fundamental frequency and comprises first and second active devices, wherein each active device has an output circuit and a control circuit. Each of the active devices are cooperatively connected together and are responsive to control signals for producing an alternating output signal. There is also provided means coupling the output circuits of the active devices to the transducer so that an alternating series current signal is applied serially through the transducer. The filter circuit filters from the alternating series current signal substantially all harmonics of the fundamental frequency of oscillation of the transducer to produce a filtered series current signal. There is also provided means for coupling the filtered series current signal to the control circuits of the active devices such that the filtered series current signal constitutes the control signal for controlling each of the first and second active devices for producing an output signal from the driving circuit substantially at the fundamental frequency.

A device for measuring and indicating changes in the resistance of a living body including a single battery source, a means for setting a reference voltage level provided across the battery, a unity gain high input impedance and low output impedance buffer amplifier having as its input the reference voltage level, a balanceable resistance bridge having the output of the buffer amplifier applied thereto and having the living body coupled thereto as a part of the bridge, a meter amplifier for amplifying any imbalances in the bridge caused by changes in the resistance of the living body and a meter coupled to the output of the meter amplifier for indicating the changes in resistance of the living body.

There are disclosed herein various forms of ornamental devices such as jewelry and the like, including a plurality of light sources, the light sources being illuminated in a random or substantially random fashion. An exemplary belt buckle is illustrated, including a circle of light sources of two different colors. Several suitable electronic circuits for driving the sources are disclosed, and any one of the circuits can be physically attached to or form an integral part of the ornamental device. Each circuit includes one or more oscillators along with logic elements, such as logic gates and/or registers, for providing electrical signals for turning on and turning off the light sources. Typically, the light sources are light emitting diodes. In one particularly useful form of circuit disclosed herein, the light sources are turned on and off one at a time in a random fashion and the frequency of the on/off cycle varies.

Lighted ornamental devices

A device is disclosed herein for monitoring a power system for the presence of faults thereon which cause leakage currents to ground. The device includes a test impedance and bridge switching means for connecting the test impedance in different combinations to a pair of power lines. A singe test impedance is connected in four different configurations to the power lines in sequence, and this cycle is continuously repeated. Currents are measured for each connection to determine whether or not a leakage or hazard current exists which results from a fault load on one or both power lines. The device includes control means for operating the test impedance switching means, and includes current level detecting means for providing an alarm indication in the event a predetermined hazard current exists.
