The disclosed fiber optic cable splice case may include (1) an outer enclosure with a plurality of cable funnels defining paths from an exterior to an interior of the outer enclosure, (2) a clamp connected to the exterior of the outer enclosure, where the clamp attaches the outer enclosure to a powerline conductor, and (3) an inner enclosure positioned at least partially within, and rotatably coupled to, the outer enclosure, where the inner enclosure defines (a) a splice cavity within the inner enclosure, where the cavity is configured to store an optical fiber splice tray for coupling corresponding optical fibers of each of a pair of fiber optic cable segments and (b) a cable channel about an exterior of the inner enclosure, where the cable channel carries a portion of each of the pair of segments between the funnels and the cavity. Various other components and methods are also disclosed.

Components for fiber optic cable installation on a powerline conductor

A method may include (1) coating a segment of fiber optic cable with an adhesive substance, (2) forming a coil of the segment of fiber optic cable, (3) deforming the coil into a noncircular shape defining a slot external to the coil while obeying a minimum bend radius requirement for the segment of fiber optic cable, and (4) activating the adhesive substance to stabilize the noncircular shape of the coil. Various other methods and apparatuses, such as those for performing the deforming operation, are also disclosed.

Spool-free fiber optic cable configuration for cable installation onto a powerline conductor

A current transformer includes first and second bobbins, and a secondary winding. The first bobbin includes a first tube defining a first longitudinal axis. First and second flanges are disposed on first and second ends of the first tube. The first tube, the first and second flanges collectively define a first slit along the first longitudinal axis. The first slit allows receipt of a primary conductor into the first tube. The second bobbin includes a second tube rotatably received about the first tube. The second tube defines a second slit along the second longitudinal axis. The second slit allows receipt of the primary conductor into the first and second tubes. The secondary winding is wound about the first bobbin and extends along the first longitudinal axis, passing through the first tube and over the first and second flanges. The second tube rotates about the second longitudinal axis relative to the first tube.

The disclosed system may include (1) a spool that carries a length of fiber optic cable to be installed on a powerline conductor, where the spool defines multiple axes of rotation, and (2) a motion subsystem that carries the spool, where the motion subsystem (a) causes the system to travel along the powerline conductor, (b) revolves the spool helically about the powerline conductor at a first rate related to a second rate at which the system travels along the powerline conductor, and (c) rotates the spool about the multiple axes of rotation while revolving the spool helically about the powerline conductor to helically wrap the fiber optic cable about the powerline conductor. Apparatuses, systems, and methods for installing fiber optic cable using preexisting electrical power infrastructure

In one embodiment, a printed circuit board (PCB) assembly includes a PCB, the PCB being arranged to define a through-hole therein, the through-hole having a surface, wherein the PCB includes a top surface and a bottom surface. The PCB assembly also includes a slug arrangement and a surface mount component. The slug arrangement is formed from an electrically and thermally conductive material and includes at least a first portion and a second portion. At least a part of the first portion is positioned in the through-hole, and the second portion is coupled to the bottom surface. The surface mount component is positioned over the through-hole and the top surface, and has a first surface configured to contact the first portion.

Method and apparatus for providing a ground and a heat transfer interface on a printed circuit board

An apparatus that includes a support beam that spans a distance along a first surface of a planar object. The apparatus also includes a mounting bracket that includes a channel shaped to receive at least a portion of the support beam to suspend the mounting bracket from the support beam. The mounting bracket also includes at least one mounting point configured to attach the mounting bracket to an electronic device. The apparatus further includes a trim bezel configured to attach to the electronic device. The trim bezel includes a trim bezel surface. The apparatus additionally includes a set screw coupled to the channel and the support beam. The set screw is configured to adjust a gap between the mounting bracket and the support beam to adjust the bezel surface with respect to a second surface of the planar object.

Low profile mounting of electronic devices

A system that is operable to adjust operation of a network device is provided. The system includes an identification module that is coupled with an antenna connector that couples the antenna with a network device. The identification module includes an identification characteristic that may be used to determine an antenna characteristic that defines operation of the antenna. The operation of the network device may be adjusted based on the antenna characteristic.

Identification of an antenna

A hooked stub collinear array antenna formed from a single conductor. The antenna operates at a design frequency having an associated wavelength. The antenna includes a plurality of radiating elements that are substantially one half the wavelength. The radiating elements are aligned with a longitudinal axis of the antenna. The antenna further includes a delay element connected between each of the plurality of radiating elements. The delay element is aligned with a transverse axis approximately ninety degrees from the longitudinal axis. The delay element extends approximately one quarter of the wavelength from the longitudinal axis and adjacent delay elements of a plurality of delay elements are sequentially rotated at 90 degree intervals relative to each other about the longitudinal axis. The total length of the delay element is approximately one half the wavelength.

Hooked stub collinear array antenna

A combination of near omni-directional antennas and internal patch antennas, all built into an access point in accordance with FCC requirements. Typically a printed antenna array is used for the near omni-directional antenna, and the internal patch antenna is a TM10 mode stacked patch antenna. A mechanical detect switch changes antenna types automatically, depending on the rotation state of the antenna system. Alternately, a configuration utility enables a user to select the antenna type for the access point when it is installed in the field. This arrangement gives the UNII access point flexibility to be mounted in various orientations and match the characteristics of the antenna to the installation requirements.
